I turned in my CAC and in return received my DD214. I had to go off post to get my forms of ID to be made a dependent under my husband and I called the visitor center ahead to see what I needed to be able to get a pass to get on. I gathered everything they asked for and then when I went in to get the pass they denied me because the guard I spoke to didn’t believe me when I told him I had to turn in my CAC because it wasn’t the experience he had and refused to give me a pass so I could get on post to get my dependent card JUST SO I COULD GO HOME because I lived on post. Read moreThe rules have changed for base access from 10 years ago. Have a sponsor meet you on base if you want to get a pass, as a non-DoD contractor, otherwise you'll have stood in line fruitlessly. The visitors center processes about 1 sponsor and visitor every 15 minutes, so if you are 5th in line, be prepared to stand for an hour.
