I stayed here for work and because it was pet friendly. The first 4 nights (M-Th) were 100% ok and pleasant. If my whole stay were that way this would have been at least 4 star. The staff were really nice and down to earth and welcoming to me and my 2 pups and it felt like home. It's easy to walk to the court building behind the hotel and let pups play on the grass. The linen on the beds is nice and they were really comfortable. Breakfast wasn't much to write home about so I ate my own oatmeal I had purchased.
Friday night got a little loud - military members had been there all week but more seemed to check in and they were having a bit of fun in their rooms (woke up at 430am loudly talking in hall and sounded like they literally picked up a dresser and dropped it on my ceiling/or against my wall I couldn't tell). Saturday morning I alerted the front desk to the noise and asked if it was going to be a problem that night but was given no indication I needed to worry.
I returned to the hotel Saturday night (10/15) to what was essentially a hotel version of a college dorm party. There were military members and their guests drinking beer in the lobby extending into the parking lot. The party extended to the 2nd floor where I stayed, with guests going back and forth between the rooms until 1am and then woke up at 430am, again talking loudly in the hallway as though they were the only guests there. The next morning the hallway reeked of vomit.
I'm not old and grumpy and I do believe service members should get a break. But I think the hotel should have given me notice they were going to allow that to happen and/or moved me to another side of the hotel (unless it was the whole hotel). I checked out Sunday morning and told hotel staff I was going to a private airbnb cabin.
I saw my card wasn't charged for the last two nights and had hoped it was because the hotel acknowledged their mistake to their non military guests, but it turned out they had simply charged the wrong card. Luckily I was getting a reduced rate for it being a work trip - I would have been so upset if I'd been paying more. After that experience it was frustrating to be the one charged with an extra nightly fee (for pets) when we were silent, I left my room spotless. The airbnb was such a peaceful retreat and I was kicking myself for not leaving earlier.
That last night was so bad it was humorous. The vomit was really the cherry on the top. Maybe this is what the hotel is known for to locals/amongst young service members letting loose on weekends, but for someone who was from out of town it caught me way off guard. Unfortunately despite all the positives in the beginning, before booking I would recommend inquiring if a large military group will be staying there, especially...
Read morePretty nice hotel with decent rooms. The beds and pillows were okay. The bathroom fan in our room was horrible! It was so loud that you couldn't run it except for an emergency circumstance.
Management of this hotel was another matter. We sprayed our room is Ozium when we left and got assaulted by a clerk accusing up from smoking in the room. We told him we didn't smoke in the room but I'd use Ozium. They didn't care they said they had to put a ozone unit in the room and charge us $250. The room had for Windows that all opened and had screens. If they wanted to remove the smell of the Ozium all they had to do is open the windows for 15 minutes and the road would be probably purged of any and all odors. Management in patiently explained they had procedures and that opening the windows is not what they did. What they did was put an ozone machine in the room and charge the client $250
We talked to the manager and told him if the room didn't are out and he was going to charge us to call us so we can come by and check out the room ourselves. He said he would call us if he was going to charge us but never did and then the next day you put a charge on our bill and would not discuss it. He did not call us allow us the opportunity to inspect the room as promised!
We read the terms of the contract and we had violated none of them as there was no smoking smoking apparatus signs of smoking or smoking paraphernalia in the room according to the manager and yet he still charge this rather than just opening the windows to remove the air freshener weed put in the room.
Management attitude seemed to be if they enjoyed gouging their customers rather than providing them with as good a service as possible.
This management needs to go to customer service school cuz they think the object is to destroy their relationship with customers rather than to try to make things agreeable and to even honor their promises to call us before building our room.
3 star rating was based on the quality of the premise I would have given this a 0 or 1 star rating based on the quality and professionalism...
Read moreBackground: My friend and I stayed at this hotel for one night before our morning flight out of Fairbanks.
Airport Shuttle Service: They may already corrected this in their website and on other platforms but they do not provide airport shuttle service. I called in advance prior to double check and they confirmed that they did provide that service. Once we checked in, I asked them about the service and they said they no longer provide it. This is one of the main reasons why we stayed with them. Not the end of the world, so I asked if they knew any good taxis services and they handed me a business card, it was $50 for a ten minute ride to the airport!! $20 for reservation fee and $30 for the ride. Total ripoff! I’m not sure why they wouldn’t update their guests about that change and also connecting them with a taxis driver that is trying to up charge their customers.
Rooms- The rooms are spacious however, our first room smelled liked cigarettes and we found beard trimmings in the bathroom. So, we asked for another room. Our next room smelled and realized the toilet wasn’t flushed. We also found hair of all sorts on our sheets and bathroom. The pillows also smelled like sweat, I’m assuming they have thin pillow cases and don’t wash their pillows often.
Overall, Google says this place is 3 star hotel but set your expectations, it’s more of a 1 or 2 star hotel. The staff weren’t rude but I would say the airport shuttle service issue brought them down to a 1 star. The rooms were pretty bad and we were glad we only stayed there for less...
