I consider myself a regular customer of Smokin’ Deals. I work down the street and for the last couple of years, I have stopped in on an almost daily to get cigarettes, something to drink, or a snack.
I could run across the street to either of the two gas stations to grab the same products at cheaper prices but what has kept me a loyal customer of Smokin’ Deals are the interactions I’ve had with their employees and the customer service I have received.
I have gotten to know Danny (who is always thoughtful and attentive), Earl (who I can’t say enough good things about), Kai (who is extremely sweet and definitely knows her business) and Shawnise (who I don’t see as often anymore but always has a ready smile and who seems to always be working hard to please the customers).
While all the employees are pleasant and competent, I don’t regularly interact with or know the names of every employee who works there so this review is written with regards to the employees that I have mentioned above.
Every time I enter,I am not only greeted warmly but Earl, Danny, Shawnise and Kai all take the time to ask me specific questions about my life (not just a quick "how are ya?’ but SPECIFIC, like "how’s your wrist feeling? You said it was bothering you a couple days ago.") which let me know that they see me as more than a nameless, faceless customer.
I have never once gone in and seen them "lazing about". They always seem to be doing something productive. When not helping customers, they are always doing paperwork, cleaning, or organizing. The times I’ve come in looking for high end products, they all demonstrated thorough knowledge about their inventory and competence in being able to effectively meet my needs.
I want to give a specific shout out to Earl. He’s worked there since before I became a daily customer and every time I walk in and find that he is working, it never fails to make my day a littler brighter. He has an honest and caring quality about him that is reflected in his interactions with the customers. The few times that I’ve had to wait in line for a couple minutes because he is tending to another customer, I’ve noticed that they also receive the same level of care and attention that he gives to me.
From what I have witnessed over the years, Earl has shown a true sense of integrity and diligence when working. He displays a stellar work ethic and genuine care for his customers. I feel that he elevates the level of customer service and professionalism at the shop which seems to uplift those around him and inspire them to aim for the same level of integrity.
These are qualities that can be hard to come by in people and the fact that he possesses them in spades is what makes him such a valuable asset to the shop. He is a true MVP among a team of fantastic employees and is probably the main reason I became a loyal customer in the first place.
I will continue to be a regular customer so long as the managers and owners of Smokin’ Deals make it a priority to retain such stellar employees. I hope that management recognizes how truly valuable the employees I’ve mentioned are and rewards them accordingly. Staff have stellar customer service, are polite, respectful, knowledgeable, consistent (both in terms of the same people and in regards to service), and generous. Their recommendations are expert and while their store has an almost overwhelming inventory, it is superbly organized with staff quickly and easily able to help locate what you're looking for. Their inventory is quality without having to worry about breaking the bank or spending too much. You get what you pay for does not necessarily apply here because the quality is consistent across the board. Every purchase has exceeded expectations.
