Once a school building, Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center is a good resource hub to visit and learn about the history of Fairfax and current community events. It has good exhibits and information. Staff are super friendly. Parking is easy in the museum’s lot. Through a visit to the museum, we learned about the difference between Fairfax City and Fairfax County, and other places/things to check out. They also have interesting souvenirs of affordable prices. Community members and non-first-time visitors may check back from time to time for events and happenings.

The WWII Quilt Exhibit includes a few war posters (installed until October 2019) and is worth a visit. The Fairfax County History in the 2nd floor gallery is very well put together with a nice collection of artifacts, photographs, and maps. I enjoyed the cases featuring native sons. The museum is free and you can get a nice overview in 30 minutes or less.

A museum with rich resources of Fairfax history. It is located in the center of Fairfax City with attractive landscaping. The building was originally a Fairfax elementary school (1873) - one of “must-visit” historic places in Fairfax City.

Located inside the 1873 Fairfax Elementary School building, the museum was staffed by knowledgeable and friendly staff. It is not a very large museum, but with two floors there is plenty to see. The staff can answer any questions you may have. It's very interesting to see how the region...
