So, had a falafel craving and looked up places in the area, Fairfax Kabob came up on Main St, with great reviews. my Love and I headed straight there on Saturday afternoon. The place is smallish and unassuming, fairly clean if you're not looking at anything too closely. I ordered the falafel sandwich with the tzatziki sauce on the side, he ordered the chicken kabob sandwich. We decided we wanted to eat outside in the square so took our food to-go.
When we unwrapped our foil packages, we were horrified to find both of our sandwiches completely drenched in white sauce. yes, they had given me a "side" of tzatziki sauce...as well as completely drowned my sandwich in it! it was if they assumed that we must loooove the sauce, so we wanted extra plus MORE on the side, or something?? our order was extremely simple and common, so not sure what the issue was. I was unable to even take a bit of my food, and my boyfriend could only eat about half of his before it literally fell apart in his hands, it was so wet. Shortly after, he complained of tummy troubles and became violently ill for the next few hours...nearly ruining what was supposed to be a celebratory night for us. thankfully we salvaged it with an emergency trip to the pharmacy.
At least we learned our lesson (albeit the hard way), to never leave a restaurant without first checking the to-go order. and of course to never, ever patronize this establishment again, for the sake...
Read moreLooks like a new place so it is clean and good seating area. Owners seem nice people as well. I ordered Shami kabob without rice as I don't eat rice. So they didn't have all the kabobs with salad option, only a few with salad option. Therefore I ordered Shami kabab but without rice. She asked me about the side so I asked for chick peas. Food was good but there are a few things: I asked to take out rice and give me salad, but they didn't add any salad, kabob's were served on the bread with a few onions, thats it and still charged me the same price as regular dish. I got chick peas, later on I noticed on their menu it said all kabobs come with 2 sides. So they didn't ask me for the second side and still charged me the same price. Their bread was fresh and good. Kabobs were also good. Sauces: green sauce was good but white was very mild and tasted like yogurt. It was not like the white sauce other kabob places have.
Overall experience was ok, but as I said it is not good that they still charged me the same price even though they gave me one side and secondly no rice so they should have added salad or given me...
Read moreAfter looking at all the reviews, I was excited to try this place. First off the food is good, not great but solid. Big problems here are easily fixable. First off, staff were friendly but were hanging in the back laughing and hanging out, which is fine but not attentive. In addition the music was VERY loud. I like good music but I think the problem is the staff was hanging in the back and the speaker was in the dining area. It was too loud for anyone to sit and enjoy dinner or have a conversation without yelling. The dining area was empty beside me and wife and I do have a minor suspicion that was part of the volume issue as well, get the food to go. ;) The problem with the food is portions, if you have ever been to a kabob places you know the size of the kabobs and naan, this place had at least 1/3 less food for the same pricing. The food was a 3/5 not bad but not good enough to make up for the differences. We won’t be back.
Not sure if this place use to be good and is under new management but I’d recommend you look...
