After attending multiple Lunar Faires, I have decided to give the event 2 stars. The first star is for having a place for the vendors to show up to, the second is for the “in theory” entertainment.
First let me say, the vendors at the event are always top notch, as far as I can tell there are no drop-shippers or MLMs. The entertainment also seems to be doing their best despite the poor management.
The even fails due to it’s management. When we arrived to the most recent faire, about an hour after opening, we were met with a line that took about 45 minutes to reach the entrance of the event; once we reached the front we realized the line led to the ticket booth, and there was actually no one checking tickets at the gate at all. There did seem to be a staff member at the gate, but he didn’t check tickets, only made people go to the back of the line. This felt rough after spending almost $50 for both of us to attend, a much higher price than when the event started. Next, there is no clear signage anywhere and if there are staff around they are not easily identifiable. We could not figure out where any entertainment was happening. At one point, we sat inside the “show pavilion” for about 20 minutes waiting for a show that then began on a random sidewalk outside of the pavilion. This was disappointing for us and the crowd of about 50 other people who wrongly assumed this is where the show would be. We also noticed a lack of accessibility, less than stellar lighting and paths/stages not clearly marked. I have poor eyesight and struggled to see some of the merchandise I wanted to buy in the vendor halls. We weren’t the only people who noticed this, as we saw multiple attendees flipping random switches trying to turn on lights in an eating area that was pitch black.
Overall, just a very frustrating experience. We have attended quite a few of them in hopes they improve, but they seem to only be getting worse over time along with a...
Read moreThe next best thing to hanging out in the parking lot at a Dead show. And that is a HUGE compliment. I'll definitely go again. And again. And again. Lovely time, lots of happy smiling faces - super nice people. Something for everyone. Definitely family friendly. Kids will LOVE this! I didn't see one thing I wouldn't let any child I was responsible for near. Admittedly did not check every single vendor but there's so much going on it would be easy to distract a child from any of the more "adult" type things you sometimes find and steer him or her in another direction. Stuff for children too! The swing carousel that blows bubbles made me wish I was small enough to fit on it! I enjoyed watching it, in any event. And the neon wings - my only thought was they should provide a box for the smaller children to have their picture taken with fairy wings. Lovely experience - will definitely go again. If you enjoy the weird, the wonderful, carnivals or boardwalk definitely go. Costumes are encouraged. Loads of good old fashioned healthy...
Read moreMy wife and I bought tickets for Friday evening hoping to unwind — but it turned into a nightmare. The event was massive, yet the website failed to mention that the entrance wasn’t through the main gate. As a result, dozens of cars — ours included — ended up in unsafe situations. Once you reached the main gate, you found it closed, and trying to turn back onto the busy road was chaotic and dangerous. It caused about an hour’s delay.
Instead of taking responsibility for this, the owner replied to my wife’s review with this: “Other one-star reviews by this reviewer: Mount Everest and Times Square. Sounds like we’re pretty iconic to me.”
If you read the owner’s other replies, they sound like something straight out of the "Terrifier" — aggressive, unprofessional, and downright creepy.
Maybe we should give them five stars — after all, they delivered a genuine horror experience for...
