Update: I would like to update my review. The day after I posted this review, I received a call from Scott. He is the Vice President of Unique. I was really impressed that he cared enough to figure out who I was from my review and call me. He wanted to apologize for my experience there and let me know that he was personally go to inquire about my tripod. After I got off the phone with him, another employee called me. He let me know that they called the manufacturer of the tripod and that it was backordered and they will have it within a week. Like they promised I received it the following week. Scott also passed my information onto Robbie, he is an employee that is very experienced and great to deal with. They offered for me to go to the store and Robbie would help me out with my new camera. Scott has also reached out to me after everything was taken care just see how I am doing and thank me for giving them a second chance. I am very impressed at the length that Unique Photo went, to make sure I was satisfied and give them a second chance. I will definitely return for my future purchases. A big thanks to Scott and Robbie.
Not so unique of an experience. I wanted to buy a Canon T-6 DSLR. This is my first decent camera. I saw the same camera at Costco and Best Buy, but I like to give my business to smaller local stores. I should have bought it at Best Buy, it is 20 min closer to my home. The sales person was less than helpful. I figure I go to a camera store, I would get some tips and advice. I was wrong. When I asked the sales person in the Canon section he just called it into the warehouse and they brought it up. I asked about a mic, he said they were out on the rack, I went to look at them and when I returned to speak with him, he was helping someone else. Then I asked him about a tripod, he pointed out where they were. He didn't help me or even offer to help me. I was in the tripod section for 10-15 mins before I got the attention of someone else. They were more helpful. The tripod I wanted was out of stock. I ordered it and was told 1 week . I am almost 3 weeks out and no word. When I called them last weekend, they said to call during the week because there was nobody there who was able to get me an answer. Read morePurchased a camera online, only hours after it went on sale. It was labeled as in stock. I used a coupon code for it too. I received an order confirmation email. As it was after hours on a Sunday, I did not expect the camera to ship until the next day. When I did not receive a shipping confirmation by the afternoon of Monday, I used the chat feature on their website to ask the status of my order. I was told that everything was in order, and that they just needed to confirm my mailing address and phone number. I thought that somewhat strange, that I had to reach out for that to happen, but I confirmed it and was promised the camera would be shipped that day or the next.
On Wednesday, when I had not received any word from unique photo, I emailed them to ask the status of my shipment again. I received an email back stating that the order was cancelled. I immediately began a chat again with a 'Paul' asking if this was true, and to have the order reinstated. I was told that the order was cancelled. I asked if it could be reinstated and I was told by Paul that there were no more cameras and that it was not even back ordered. "Inventory mistake" on a web store? I asked why I had to contact them to find this all out and got no response. A courtesy email would have been nice. As, by this time in the week, most other retailers had sold out and had I known unique photo was out, I would have bought somewhere else. Given I contacted them Monday and was not informed lead me to believe that they new in advance they had more orders then cameras and, instead of delivering them to those who ordered first, they passed over those who used a small coupon and gave the few cameras to those who paid full price. Very shady.
I was told there was no back order. They said they would contact me if they ever got them in again, but had no idea when that would be, and that they would only honor their earlier price through the end of the month.
I won't shop there again, even if they have a great coupon code or sale. They aren't...
