The restaurant is stunning on the inside in terms of decor. My friends and I went for a late lunch at around 2:30 PM on a Saturday. During this time, the bar was packed and most tables had customers. It took a few minutes to be seated at a table by the hostess after she assisted another party waiting for a table in front of us. Once seated, unfortunately, it took a while before the hostess ended up coming by asking if we wanted something to drink. My friends each got an alcoholic drink, and I stuck with water, which was provided at the table. Danielle, who was a server during our visit, came by after the hostess took our beverage order, asking if someone had taken care of us, and we let her know that the hostess took our drink order. It took at least twenty minutes for my friends to get their drinks. Danielle was going to take our food order after the drinks arrived, but, since the hostess took our drink order, Danielle could not put in our food order because the hostess claimed our table as hers in the POS system. The hostess ended up taking our food order at around 3:15 PM. Other customers who sat near us made us aware that there was a long wait in terms of service, but they said the food was worth it. Danielle came over shortly before our food arrived at 3:45 PM letting us know that one of our meals was not up to standard, so she had the chef redo the meal, especially since we had waited so long to eat. When our food arrived, the roasted half chicken was delicious. The chicken fell right off the bone and had great flavor. However, I felt that the roasted cauliflower was not as hot as it could have been. The poblano risotto was yummy too, and the hot honey was a nice touch. My friend enjoyed his chicken tacos, but my friend that got the steak tacos said that his steak was cold. They both also commented that the rice served with the tacos was really dry, but they enjoyed the cowboy beans. At the end before receiving the bill, the hostess asked us if we wanted another round of drinks, stating that it would not take as long, or dessert, but we decided not to. The hostess also was kind enough to comp our drinks as an apology for the delay in service. Danielle also thanked us for our patience during our time there. Danielle was helpful with splitting our bill and assisting us with payment with the POS system. Overall, it was clear to us that the restaurant still has kinks to work out in terms of how it operates. My friends and I are willing to come back again in at least a few months; at that time, hopefully everything will run a lot smoother and make for a better...
Read moreWell let me start out by saying that I attempted to reach out to management to explain our experience with Brunch and Nicole replied and said she did not hear of any issues with Brunch on Sunday but she will pass along my feedback to the Chef..ok?
7 of us dined on Sunday, 3/23. Out of 7 meals, 6 were not up to par. We spent over $ 400.00 and would have expected better. The waffles were cold, both the chicken and the steak tacos were overly dry and you couldn't even bite into the steak, the taco salad was soggy, the potato appetizer was soaking in a mound of oil, and the burrito was ok. The cheeseburger was really good and we wished we all got that, but we were going for a brunch vibe! Onto the drinks - the coconut margaritas did not have any coconut taste to them and one went back and the other guest just tolerated it. The jalapeno margaritas were pretty good and the espresso martinis were ok as well but one guest got a second jalapeno margarita and this was lacking something vs the first one served and it was not finished. One of my reasons for coming there was the smoked drink and the smoker was broken we were told (one week in?) We also spent 42.00 on 4 chips and salsa and guacamole and the guacomole was slightly brown which is a turn off for me completely!
The atmosphere/location/views are great and our server was lovely- one of the reasons I waited to go to management on the food/drink issue as I always feel it is not the waitstaffs fault if the food and drinks are not up to par!
Hoping that this establishment improves as we love the location and hoping it is just part of growing pains. Would have been nice of management to take a more serious approach to my concerns as it is clear that other reviews (now that I am reading them) mimic some of our issues that we encountered, but doesn't seem that they want to address feedback seriously...
Read moreOur first visit to Morgan's Cantina since its opening was a great experience. We had a 7 pm Friday reservation, and while the parking lot was packed, there was free off-street parking nearby. The atmosphere inside was immediately appealing, a great energy with music at a comfortable level and a beautifully calming aesthetic. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our server was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Carne Asada and the Taco Verde Bowl (with added chicken). While my husband's Carne Asada was a standout, a large, flavorful steak he thoroughly enjoyed (even the usually avoided beans), the chicken in my bowl was slightly salty for my taste. However, both dishes were overall delicious. The $92 bill (including tip) felt reasonable for the quality and the 20-minute wait time. The restaurant boasts stunning views of the lighthouse and Braga Bridge. My only slight disappointment was the limited non-tequila drink selection. I'd love to see options like a piña colada or sangria added. Thankfully, I enjoyed a sample and a glass of their Riesling. The overall vibe was fantastic, lively and enjoyable. We noted that while family-friendly in general, the atmosphere seems better suited for adult gatherings. We definitely recommend a visit and will...
