I hate when I have to give a review but this experience left me so disturbed that I had to. It was a first time visit and although there was only 1 customer in front of us, we had to wait 15 minutes for them to take our order. The young man who had already taken the order in front of us and collected the money, turned his back to us and watched the cook instead of acknowledging our presence. Usually a person will say, I’ll be right with you or even smile. He said nothing and we stood there akwardly. The lady in front of us kept staring at us as if she was waiting to see if we would make a scene or say something, which I refused to do. Micro aggressions happen all the time and when I feel then I prefer to take the high road. The food ( fish and chips) was greasy and the frozen fries were cheap ”line” fries. A little more pride in service and quality of food would go a long way in the long run. Good luck to them but I...
Read moreSmall hole in the wall seafood joint serving up fresh seafood to go as well as fried seafood also to go. The prices are very affordable especially for seafood, they run weekly specials that you can see on Facebook.
I ordered a small fish and chips plate ($7.99 memorial day weekend special, normally around $9.50) and the portions were out of this world, I’d honestly hate to see what the large is like because the small included 4 pieces of fried fish and French fries.
The few downsides to the place is the fish I ordered was pretty greasy, I'm not sure if its the oil that was used or something else as they made it fresh for me but it was a grease bomb. They also don't include cole slaw and have packaged tartar sauce which isn't that great.
I do think the price and the portions more than makes up for these small downsides and it would not stop me from...
Read moreI’m often on the road and always on the look-out for a genuine great hole-in-the-wall like Higson’s seafood. It’s strictly a seafood market and TAKE-OUT establishment. They dip and fry up a perfectly cooked choice of your favorite seafood from their simple and straightforward selections. Fish & Chips, Calamari, scallops, smelt, shrimp, Lobster rolls, clam strips etc. They do one thing and they do it well.
The locals are privy to the good eats served up here and if you are fortunate enough to stumble upon or even go out of your way to make it to Higson seafood you will be in for a great meal. Portions are strong and the product is exactly what it’s supposed to be. I can’t recommend any single item off the menu, I took the opportunity to sample as many as I could during a 10 day visit to the area and absolutely was happy each and...
