It's a small little open area on the southern side of the Suwannee River. It has a lot of history dating back to 1838. It served as an Outpost where all sorts of merchandise was brought into and shipped out of the area. Over the years they have "improved" the fort so much is that all remained are the ruins from a small building in in the northern most corner. It is now fenced in with a black coated (to blend in to the scenery) chain link fence. There are several, mostly shaded, seating areas that offer a nice respite or just a quiet place to watch the area boaters traverse the river. Nice concrete sidewalks for easy walking along with a paved parking area. The fort offers a large open grassy area to play with your canine family members. Is a nice backdrop for a wedding ceremony. They have also installed a porta potty if nature does call. Other than a very short walk along the river there isn't really much else to do. No restroom facilities that I could see. There are some very quiet benches to relax that overlook the Suwanee river. There is also a large picnic area for larger gatherings, covered.
