Overall rating: 3.5/5 (I would attend again.) The production I attended was Caroline or change in the 2016, 2017 season. As a whole the musical was a pleasurable experience but it felt unpolished which is uncharacteristic considering it was the second to last showing. The main problem had to do with the movements on stage, after the 6th time an actor turned their back while still reciting a line I stopped counting. The corography had no soul. There was a few staging issues. Finally there was a park bench left on stage that blocked view of a whole scene for the front rows. The skill range of actors was interesting. There was a child that was better than average who played Noah. But then the actor that played his father might as well have recited his lines from backstage as he was lifeless, I get that Noah's father is broken and defeated but there is a way to convey those emotions that won't bore the audience (go watch Fences with Denzel). The rest of the cast was very pleasant to watch and we're well cast. The music in this production was well done and sounded professional. The set was fantastic, the use of hidden doors and rotating walls was really well done, and the way the Moon was portrayed was very surprising and honestly a highlight of the show. The venue was nice, the seats are a little small for a tall guy like myself but the show was good enough that I really didn't notice. The staff was very friendly and concessions were provided at charge. TLDR; Cape fear does a good job, needs some elbow grease to be a great job but I will definitely be there for the 2017,...
Read moreMet up with a few friends today for the Lady Day play and wow! Wow! And wow again! Even with social distancing Cape Fear Regional Theater knows how to really craft a play. I was literally transported to 1959 to a small, smoky club in South Philadelphia to see Billie Holiday perform.
The four actors provided an amazing performance with live music and acting. The woman playing Billie showcased the songstresses beauty, tragedy, and history. Which all came to life in an hour and 30 minutes on a crafted outdoor stage. There were about 40 of us in attendance on a beautiful day.
It was great to spend mt second weekend in Fayetteville supporting the local arts and I cannot wait to return. They definitely need to do this more often with the beautiful weather we are having now. Also the process of ordering tickets and selecting seats online was so easy! Only suggestion I would have for next time is have the actors introduce themselves at the end and maybe have a short Q&A as this is such a powerful play it would be great to hear from the actor's about their experience.
Please continue with the outdoor arts Cape Fear Regional theater! I...
Read moreThe cast of Cinderella did not disappoint. The were amazing. Funny, with a twist on the original but you nailed it! I took myself out on a date , sat up. close and enjoyed the production tremendously! Bravo.
Unfortunately, my car was towed so I incurred an unexpected expense. I’m 64 and parked at the pharmacy after asking another patron if it was alright to park. The sign about towing was in the handicap parking unseen from the first parking spot close to the street. The couple with a handicap plaque that thought we could park there also had their car towed! ThankGod I jumped in an Uber with them to retrieve our cars in the sultry lot they were towed too. I arrive at 7:00 pm and there were no parking spots in the post office where I usually park. Both the police and tow people are aware of all the cars being towed and this is definitely a problem that needs addressing. I’m a senior citizen and am really hurting with the $225.00 fee they charged in the impossible situation I experienced . I don’t think I’ll be back until the new building with adequate...
