We just had my kiddos 13th birthday party there. We reserved the large pavilion. When we arrived, there were homeless people there and then they refused to leave when we explained we had it reserved. They became belligerent and I ended up having to call the cops. I don't like calling cops and calling them was a last resort. They were cussing and yelling as I had parents showing up with their children. Kids ages 6-13 were there. This was not appropriate for kids to see. The cops got them to move to another table but the entire time they were cussing and yelling about us and that it's a free country. While I am sympathetic to their situation, (I have been homeless myself) if I have a bunch of kids coming, I expect you to act like a decent human and not expose others kids to all the profanity and belligerency. It was the worst experience I've ever had in a park for a party. Between the cigarette butts and trash all over and the belligerent people it was the worst park experience...

I love how we have a local park, I've been going for about 15 years now. But...its definitely time for lights to be added. Going to school full time and working as well I often can't go until around 6. This is still good during the summer but useless during the winter months. I've heard rumor after rumor that "Oh this year they're planning on adding lights" so many times now I don't pay any attention to it anymore. I just wish the bmx/skateboard community got an ounce of the love that the mountain biking community gets around nwa. With this area becoming a hotspot for mountain biking it would be incredible to see nwa a freestyle hotspot as well. We've contacted companies in regards to the cost to set up lights and presented it at board meetings and all we get back is it's on the list, the same thing I've heard for years now.. Anyway, I love the park but it would just be so incredible to have lights installed, or even...

I used to love this park when I was a kid. My school would take field trips and all of the kids could run free without supervision. Absolutely not the case these days. It's trashed. Homeless people have pretty much taken it over. I wanted to stop by the horseshoe area today but I pulled in and just made a u turn and left. There were so many homeless people there with a tent setup, an older lady seemed pretty much unresponsive in a wheelchair and a drunk guy was stumbling around the parking lot. Revive this park. Fayetteville needs to step up and do something about the homeless population instead of ruining the pump station with an eyesore of an "update" of chain link fence with barbwire and security cameras. Funny, the university and Walmart can build anything any time and own most of Fayetteville but the city just can't seem to come up with the money to build a facility for the countless...

Nice Arkansas park for people and our dogs ... but the rest rooms are not close to a road, this old man walked the dogs, cleaned up after them, then walked a good distance to the public restrooms just to find a sign that says closed for fall and winter! So am I now supposed to wait here till spring? What are we to do? I find it a bit hard both walking all the way back to my car, and also to wait till spring. Proper design would be to have the rest room next to a road so it could be serviced all year and or so old people don't have to walk so far to see this sign. Thus for the first time, I drop the rating for an otherwise beautiful park down to a 3 rating and really thought hard about dropping it even further. But can't do that to God's beauty, just man's stupidity!

Usually go towards the evenings to the skateboard pit and people are usually pretty friendly. Not sure if it's because the homeless shelter is down the road or just the timing that I go, but usually quite a few homeless people hanging out. Not that it matters much, but just an observation.
