As a minority myself, itâs sad to see what happened to Kaitlyn. I have been to clothe boutique and yes, being the only minority many times in a dominant white culture is what itâs like living in NWA. However, if you are going to accuse anyone of stealing, there is a protocol. Maybe put a sign on the door for all college kids with backpacks coming to shop to hand their things to the front desk or have a designated spot for college kidsâ backpacks and hooks to place them. May as well confiscate all people wearing purses and backpacks as well. Kaitlyn did the right thing and set her backpack down beforehand. The right approach could have been to ask her to take her backpack and leave it by the desk so she could enjoy shopping Thus, her backpack would be safer there anyways if there are âshopliftersâ. There HAS TO BE PROTOCOLS TO THIS. An employee should NOT in no way get involved if they do not know how to handle a situation. Thatâs why education from manager to employee is essential. Indicating that this âshop liftingâ has happened before, then change your protocols and change the way you address it instead of attacking people by assumption of the past. AND, out of all the people in the store with pockets, purses, so forth, why was SHE targeted. Why not any other person looking at jewelry at the time...
Read moreI was here last night shopping (I'm visiting and not from the area) and loved the selection but felt like pricing wasnât transparent and workers werenât the most friendly. I bought a few items and found a pair of pants in the clearance room that were marked down but was told I had to be charged full price for them despite them being in the clearance room and having marking on them? I usually donât write reviews but I just felt like it wasnât transparent and I was overcharged for something I wasnât expecting to pay so much for.. Iâm hoping they let me return them or at least get some money back. As far as the workers, I felt like I was getting looks and some of my clothes that were meant to be put in a fitting room to be started for me somehow got put back out on the floor so I donât think I tried on all the items I had picked out. Overall just not the best experience compared to the other boutiques Iâve visited...
Read moreAs another person of color, to Kellie and friends, it is not the client's fault that you guys have a history of shoplifting, but that does not by all means give you any reason to single her out and project that kind of business trauma on clients. No one else there was given that treatment, which makes your case worse. If you guys checked everyone the way you did with her, I believe it wouldn't have gotten to this point. Don't call it harassment because it is what exactly happened, these are just people who don't support those kinds of actions and disrespect. You as professionals should have better PROTOCALS like signs and warnings if being a small business is THAT important to you as you say it is. Its highly unprofessional and extremely rude. Stop victimizing yourself and just take...
