Bar none the most disorganized and unprofessional experience I have had at a marina, leading to a potentially dangerous situation. We wanted to dock due to wicked wind and waves so called 10 minutes before arrival and were told to go to the outside of the t head and dockhands would be out there to meet us. After docking in the heavy winds blowing onto the dock in big chop, right where the dockhands were as instructed, we were then told once secured there was no space for us and we had to leave the marina. It was extremely difficult to get off the dock with the big wind and big waves and all 4 dockhands were about 100 feet away but flat out refused to help us get back off the dock. One in particular stood next to the boat watching 4 of us struggle with hands in pockets, and when asked to get his hands out of his pockets and start helping he promptly walked away. Luckily nice people from other boats around all jumped into action and helped us and after many attempts we finally got off. Have never seen such a disorganized team, and with the weather it made for a dangerous and absurd situation, which we were left to deal with on our own.

I understand the dock space was some sort of internal communication problem and that's fine things happen, but once we were there they should have owned up to the mistake by at least helping us leave. Facilities are decent but I just cannot recommend this place to anyone after that experience, lest you end up in a similarly...

By far one of the worst marinas I’ve ever stayed at. I’d your in the mooring field the marina is extremely rude and wants nothing to do with u. Current in the river makes it impossible to row to dingy docks that are as far away as possible from mooring field. My last night here I stayed on the dock to prepare for. Morning passage the marina told us they lock the dock gates at 6:00pm gates were open all night docks covered in loud drunk people all night no sleep at all not to mention the hole area smells like a dumpster fire 24/7 don’t the 2 paper recycling plants in either side. Ben doing this sense 2010 never seen anything like this never seems. Marina that leaves its gates open to drunks all night with multi million dollar boats on the dock. My favorite part was I asked the marina if they could tow me and my dingy back to mooring field in day one was told pump out boat is broke and there not aloud to do that only to wake up next morning to see them give a guy a ride and towing a dingy with the so called broken pump out boat what a joke. Don’t recommend...

The facilities are very nice; however, my complaint is that we were overcharged for an overnight, transient slip. The rates are $2 per foot for dock 1 and $1.25 per foot for docks 4-9. We are a catamaran but with only a 14' beam and 18" draft. We can fit almost anywhere. We arrived late in the day and were told all of the less expensive slips were "reserved." We noticed later that there were many open slips in the 4-9 docks. When I spoke to the office about this the next day, they said we would have been sitting in the mud at low tide. Well, there were plenty of monohulls with a much bigger draft than us that were floating just fine all night. Fernandina is great and this marina has much to offer, but you should beware and ask questions...

Last year we met a fellow sailor here as he was anchored near this marina. Well equipped marina with friendly staff and great location to shops and local grocery store. Learn about the water quality in this location. I looked into it and it is complicated and unfortunately not getting better. Tourists seem to flock here for the southern charm and unique shopping opportunities. Note to Fernandina Beach: Please take care of our ocean and all of the animals that need us to protect them .

This is the hidden secret in Northern Florida, while traveling from north Florida coast on I 95 towards Miami, via Jacksonville, this can be covered for a couple of hours halt to explore the beauty of the historic downtown and harbor , also you can drive on A1A which is the oldest highway in USA, to drive completely on Florida coast till key west via Jacksonville > Saint Augustine>Miami > Key west ( the southernmost point of Florida

We needed a place to leave our boat to go to Colorado for the holidays. The mooring field is FCFS, so we were nervous about getting a spot. The crew was communicative and fantastic, especially Cathy, Nate, and Joe, but all were pleasant and always willing to help. We grabbed a ball, enjoyed the town, and loved having Christmas when we got back to Florida. We would definitely stay at Fernandina Harbor Marina again
