This shop might as well throw a whites only sign on the front door. When my husband and I walked in we were not greeted. We stood at the front of the casing thinking weād be waited on, but was never greeted. So I thought maybe the line started near the ice cream. Still, not one came to assist me. Instead they were all bunched up at the coffee machine whispering. Then, an employee comes to the area where I am standing to give someone else their order/ looks at me and asks, āhave you been helpedā⦠I say no, and she says you order at the frontā¦the same place I stood and waited and was not acknowledged. So, I go to the front and someone says, hello, how are you. I say, well, but noticed she was not speaking to me. She was speaking to the group of white women whoād just walked in. I say, hello, I was not helped yes. Then she says, how may I help you. I am trying to remain cordial and upbeat. But she is dry, seems annoyed (which is understandable off you donāt like your job or the customer). I ask her if sheād be able to add ice cream into my chair latte. She says yes, walks away without asking what flavor Iād like puts vanilla and then puts it on the counter. The entire encounter was unnecessary. The baristas should learn how to greet customersā¦all customersā¦even the customers that donāt loook like them. They should also learn that private conversations shouldnāt be being had in the midst of busy day. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the owner was the woman who served me my drink, so I donāt think a change will be done. This comment is for anyone who needs to know if they will be treated fairly in this establishment as their white counterpartsā¦and the...
Read moreThis is an absolute gem of a coffee shop. The staff here are so friendly and the coffee is amazing. I say this wholeheartedly because it's so hard to find cafés that make a strong Americano without charging extra for more expresso shots. Many cafes I've been to lately have missed the mark on this, or the coffee tends to be too acidic, but not here at Amelia Island coffee. They make a strong, delicious, tasting Americano right from the get-go! If I lived in this area, this would be my regular morning hangout. I can not comment on the food options as I didn't have any. However, everything looked good in presentation. If I hadn't already eaten, I so would have bought a breakfast sandwich from here without question. They are fairly busy here. However, there's plenty of seating inside and outside, and there's even a little public sitting area right beside here that is quite nice as well. Loved the laid-back tropical setting of the beautiful dropback mural displayed at the back. It's definitely a great choice for keeping the theme relative...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame by for coffee and breakfast today. It was quite busy but there was seating available and the line flowed quickly.
The coffee was excellent and the food was decent. We had the Nutella cold brew, vanilla latte, "The Presley", and sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. There were no complaints about the coffee, and the options were high quality and unique. My wife enjoyed "The Presley" and the touch of crystalized honey on top. The breakfast sandwich was good, but not worth the expensive price tag. The biscuit was exceptional, but the eggs were clearly microwaved, as was the frozen sausage patty. I assume this may be a preparation limitation for the space and I normally wouldn't care, but for the price, the quality just wasn't there. Additionally, despite the quality, the coffee was extremely expensive and over $6 a cup, beyond the usual at other high quality shops.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience and this is probably the best coffee shop...
