Wonderful Select Registry Experience at a New Select Registry Property - The Addison on Amelia Island
I looked for a Select Registry Inn on Amelia Island for our 49th Anniversary Celebration. Our plan included a visit to the 2019 "Southern Living" Idea House nearby. I did not find a Select Registry Inn on Amelia Island so I started looking for small boutique hotels and upscale bed and breakfast inns.
After a dutiful search of photos and reviews I showed my results to Gayle, my wife, and she agreed. The Addison on Amelia looked like a nice property that would offer a wonderful experience. I called the Addison and talked to co-owner Lisa and explained we would like to book a room and that we would enjoy a boat outing through the salt marshes and dinner at wonderful dining establishments the next two nights. She was pleased to help us make some selections based on her experience.
On arrival we noticed a newly installed "Select Registry - Member" sign on the front entrance. We commented upon it and the owners said, "yes, we just got word of our acceptance into the member inns this week and the sign and kiosk just arrived."
We were at the Addison for 3 full days and it was an exceptional experience. The Inn offers daily "Happy Hour" with complimentary wine, beer and tasty appetizers. The innkeepers use this social time to learn about guest interests and share things to include in their Island itinerary. The daily breakfast was exceptional - and they serve great coffee in a real personalized Addison Mugs - made in America. I hate paying $8 at large hotels for a paper cup of burnt coffee.
We just received professional photos from our afternoon and sunset boat cruise around Amelia Island and over to Cumberland Island. Lisa arranged the evening with "Amelia Adventures." We had an afternoon and evening to our-selves on our private "Captained" boat. He was very knowledgeable about the marshes and shared the rich history of Cumberland Island. It was clear he loved his job. We very much enjoyed this adventure.
The dinner reservations were made at delightful chef inspired restaurants each just a five-minute walk from the inn's front door. And yes, we did get to visit Southern Living's 2019 Idea House just a short drive from the Addison on Amelia. Gorgeous furnished house overlooking the Amelia River. Lots of wonderful "Ideas" to remember.
We stayed in a luxurious corner suite with an outdoor balcony overlooking Ash Street. After dinner and a cooling thunderstorm we sat out there with a glass of Cognac and recollected our 49 years together. Gayle said, we better start working on the 50th as this trip will be hard to top.
Much thanks to Owners/Innkeepers Ron and Lisa West. You offered a delightful and memorable experience. We applaud you and your team for providing us a wonderful 49th anniversary celebration at the Addison on Amelia. David and...
Read moreWhat an amazingly perfect B&B!! There are just so many things to rave about with The Addison on Amelia that I hardly know where to begin. First and foremost what makes this place outstanding are the hosts. Lisa and Ron are incredibly kind and instantly made us feel like old friends. Their interaction with the guests was effortless and sincere, and I was amazed at how they were able to take time to have meaningful and helpful conversations with us all. Another plus was how the rooms were nearly at capacity but somehow it never felt crowded or like there were too many of us in the same spaces at the same time. Lisa’s breakfast creations were absolutely delicious and filling all 3 mornings we were there, and Ron is the perfect Happy Hour host! Our room was nicely decorated and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Opening our door in the morning to be greeted by the sweet courtyard and relaxing sounds of the fountain was a favorite feature. The location of the Inn is perfectly set in the historic district of Fernandina Beach and you will be able to park your car and walk to all of the shops and restaurants you want to visit in the district. Lisa was able to suggest and arrange dinner reservations for us at two astoundingly delicious restaurants and even booked a horse drawn carriage ride after dinner which made for a memorable Anniversary celebration. To say we fell in love with it all is an understatement. We will be back very soon! If you are trying to decide where to stay for your visit just stop looking- The Addison is where...
Read moreI was so happy to return to The Addison. I was there for a romantic weekend about 10 years ago and this time I brought my cousin for her first visit to Amelia Island. The Addison is still as beautiful, quaint, and personalized as I remembered it. The delicious breakfasts are a perfect way to start the day before your adventures and happy hour is a perfect time to unwind a little before heading out to dinner. I LOVE that they provide bikes, beach chairs, and beach towels. So convenient! We spent all day one day riding around the island, exploring the state park (only $2 to get in!) and parking the bikes with the lock they provide, so we could walk down various parts of the beach. The mini fridge in the main house is a wonderful perk with cold drinks all day and they also provide coffee and tea for your leisure. We really enjoyed coming home after dinner and making a cup of tea to take to our room. I've always found the other guests to be very friendly and enjoy sharing stories with them. There are plenty of places to relax and take a rest in between exploring the area. It's so nice that you can walk to Center Street and we also walked to the beach one day - a bit of a long walk, but the weather was wonderful and we enjoyed site seeing all the cute houses along the way. The lighthouse was also a cool stop we made - interesting location - we couldn't climb it that day, but it was still nice to see close up. I cannot wait to come back to...
