I have stayed here with the previous owners and they were so welcoming and friendly. While in town with family this time I couldn't wait to show my husband and daughter where I stayed a few years back. I thought why not kill two birds with one stone, say hello to the owners, and book another stay. My daughter and husband were so excited after seeing the place. I did my research ahead of time and knew that minors 14 and older could stay as well, and my daughter is 14. WARNING, new owners are not friendly AT ALL. Not warm, not inviting, and completely killed the vibe of this place. We ran the doorbell, no one came. We wait a few minutes, no one came. We rang the doorbell again, no one came , we waited a few minutes. We did this a total of 5 times. I finally called and asked very politely if the owner was on the property. She said very rudely "I have no idea what you are talking about." I said very politely that I rang the doorbell a few times and it seemed no one was there. She scolded me like a child and told me I rang it one time and she was on her way down. When she answered the door, she stood in the doorway and asked very rudely what did we want. I said "um pricing, availability, we are wanting to book a room." "All online, all online" she says. Again with the worst stank attitude. I told her how excited my child was to see the place and how the previous owners shared the history with me of the place, and my daughter couldn't wait to stay. She then said "all untrue. All lies. None of it is true at all." Who does that? The previous owners knew the family who owned it, they have documents, it's in history books as part of the underground railroad. She did say 14 and older could stay but then pointed to my daughter and said over and over, no kids can stay, no kids. My daughter is 5'9, her birthday is 4/8/8, she's not a kid. I told her no worries she gave the place a bad vibe anyway and we wouldn't be staying. Wow how to make such a special place turn into the house of the cranky old lady....

Wow! Words cannot describe how wonderful our stay at Williams House was. We stayed in the Isle of Santa Maria room. It was tastefully decorated Victorian style - with my favorite - cherub paintings! The beautiful old trees surrounding the property were so very majestic. We enjoyed sitting on the wrap around balcony enjoying the greenery.
We were greeted by the friendly owner Veronica who has gone out of her way to provide little touches and details.
Here were some of the highlights that made this stay better than a 5 star hotel:
freshly baked cookies everyday wine social hour tasteful décor great toiletries bathrobes and beach towels two showerheads soft toilet paper delicious creative 2 course breakfasts served in their artful dining room good quality beach chairs, umbrellas and bikes provided for the beach a refrigerator and microwave Keurig, k-cups and tea bags provided plenty of water bottles even provided choice of different pillows!
Amazing! Plus it's conveniently located - just 5 minutes from the beach on one side and the marina and shops on the other side.
We really enjoyed our romantic getaway. It was also fun meeting other guests too during the wine social hour and at breakfast.
Thank you for making our first visit to Amelia Island so very special.
