Next Step Studio & Gallery — Attraction in Ferndale

My experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I drove this artist’s work from Michigan to Florida under an agreement that I’d be paid $1,000 cash whenever I requested—before, during, or after the trip. He promised again and again that we’d be very comfortable and that nothing would come out of our pockets. Halfway through the weekend, after completing half the work, I asked to be paid and was completely ignored. I was left stranded in Florida with no response to my calls or texts. While he’s a decent artist and has been helpful to me at times (when he’s in a rare good mood) he has always treated me like a second-class citizen—barking orders, speaking down and patronizing/insulting me every chance he gets. I was expected to sleep on a twin air mattress with no blankets. He didn’t cover any of what he said he would, and when I got home and asked for just half of the cash payment for the work I did, he still hasn’t responded to a single call or message. The owner was very rude to my publicist. We called to get a quote so we could plan an event there. Asking her how did she get his number like isn’t listed here on google. He’s very unprofessional and honestly I believe he was talking that way to her because she’s black. I have to remember that ferndale isn’t friendly to our culture...
