I went there to purchase two Sloppy Joe Sliders, two Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders and a small serving of bite-size Hashbrowns. In my review of the White Castle located on Wyoming at James Couzens, I wrote that the Sliders are basically for snacking on, but can be purchased for dinner as well as for lunch. They're just snack-size, if that helps. I've never expected spectacularity at White Castle, or any other burger joint, for that matter. That's fine by me. You place an order, receive your food in a certain amount of time, and either carry it out or gravitate to a table, sit down and eat it there. However, I looked at an Uber advertisement on the wall with this proclamation: "Harold And Kumar DON'T Go To White Castle. They Order From Uber Eats." That's a play on the title "Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle." I loved that movie; I thusly saw it twice. And here's the thing: A major commercial fast food restaurant participated with a movie about two guys smoking marijuana and needing to eat so many burgers to vanquish their munchies! I'm glad it was the Castle. Burger King could've been the one to be involved. However, I believe there is still a moral stigma, tied to marijuana---let's just say moral aversion. Hence my astonishment in White Castle; I doubt they would've been in league with a movie about smoking weed back in the Eighties, or the Nineties. I guess the Aughties seemed right. But I cannot imagine that the American Family Association found favor with White Castle for lending themselves to that; nor would've sat on their laurels to refrain from calling for a boycott. You couldn't put that past them (three words: Pepsi and Madonna!). After all of that, that's why I've given White Castle five stars. Let me admit, I myself am averse to drugs, including marijuana, tobacco and alcohol. The latter two have been legal for a very long time, yet we've seen consumers of those condescend on users of marijuana, cocaine, heroin, et cetera, and aver that they should go to jail. Personally, I'd rather tout sobriety, but I shan't try to persuade anyone. I voted for medicinal marijuana and recreational marijuana here in Michigan to make possession thereof easier; and most certainly to fight hypocrisy favoring beer and cigarettes. I formerly opposed marijuana when I was younger. As you can see, I've come around. I'm not totally in favor of legalization, but there has really never been success in the War On Drugs. Not from where I stand. Overall, I really no longer care about other people's drug uses. If you're like me, then we're all about keeping ourselves alive and well. And enjoying White Castle Sliders. As well as enjoying movies about smoking weed and eating those...
Read moreSo, we went around 2 pm. Staff was cordial but on the verge of irritation seeing that it was a large order for a family of 5 who hadn't been to White Castle in a number of years. Sorry for bothering you at work, smh. We ordered a crave case along with chicken sliders, various drinks, fries, mozzarella sticks, etc. It was an approximately 25 min wait, which by itself wouldn't have counted against them had the food been fresh. They must've prepared the chicken sandwiches, fries and mozzarella sticks before doing the crave case bacuase all of that was cold and unenjoyable on the ride home just after collecting the food. Driving down Woodward in traffic just to turn around to have them replaced, mind you after having already waited approximately 25 mins the first go round, would have been extremely inconvenient, especially seeing how the rest of the family were to be delivered from school to home any moment. I say that to help you understand how much the borderline attitudes from the employees were not appreciated during the immediate phone call to lodge the complaint about the cold or undercooked food (couldn't tell which).
The solution offered was to come back through traffic and replace these foods, however, the burgers would get colder during the additional wait and there was no guarantee that they were made correctly either. Or maybe everything was made correctly and the food is just naturally unacceptable. So basically no solution, we just had to accept it and hope the rest of the food (craver pack and chicken burgers) were edible. Upon returning home, less than 10 mins away, the rest of the food was edible, kind of. More so tolerable. Does the jalapeños burgers have meat in them or paste? Couldn't discern any solid meet patty in them. If that's the way its supposed to taste then, OK. I'm not sure because I hadn't eaten there in years. The cheese burgers, I guess I should call everything sliders, just barely slid past home base but only after having to microwave them ourselves, to perfection. Honestly, if I wanted microwaved White Castle, I could have stopped at the corner store. The microwaved chicken from the corner store tasted far better than the overcooked, hardened chicken from actual restaurant drive through. It was a shame. My wife was actually upset because she was actually looking forward to White Castles. Don't waste your time...
Read moreI went to this White Castle today early morning 6:10 am and I received horrible customer service. I ordered 3 sausage egg & cheese sliders and 2 curtesy cups of water. I went through the drive-thru for about 5 mins then received my order. I checked my order at the window and discovered it was not fresh at all. Eggs were rubbery and dark which means they were old, the bun was cold and hard bread did not seem fresh. Sausage was undercooked and also cold. It seems as if they made the order prior to my purchase. So they had them sitting under a light. I told the cashier that they were not fresh and I’d like them to remake my order please. They took the order back and had me sitting for another 5 mins just to give me the same old breakfast sandwiches and when I callled over the phone management argued with me that they could review the cameras because the new set was fresh and this order clearly is not fresh. I asked for corporate number and was told it’s on my receipt which they never gave me back my receipt. I was told to call back for general manager later in the day. I’m just sad that this is how I’m being treated as a paying customer. It’s not about my 7$ that was waisted it was the service I received that was never corrected. If they were spending their money and time they would want there order made correctly and I wanted the same. I never return to this...
