Flagler County Tax Collector — Attraction in Flagler Beach

Went here to apply for cwl. Admittedly near the end of the day, but that was my availability and I hit some usually traffic that slowed me down by about 10 minutes. I arrived at 4:22 - their hours are until 4:30 (presumably so they can wrap up by 5).

The security guard had already locked the main entrance and opened the exit door and asked, very annoyed, what I was there to do. I told him and he said “it’s 10 minutes before close!” before grumbling and walking me to a seat in the lobby and going to the back room and complaining to the guy who deals with cwl applications.

Once he was done whining he came back through the lobby and says as he passes “you can’t be coming in here 10 minutes before close, we’re ready to start our weekends.” and then said to wait for the other guy to call me in.

The cwl guy was friendly and helpful - the only reason this isn’t a 1-star review. I was in and out of there in 14 minutes, leaving at 4:38 with plenty of the customers still there who were there when I arrived. I stupidly apologized for the hassle to the security guard as I left and and I think he mustered a “have a nice day” without acknowledging that his whining was unnecessary and unwarranted.

Look, we’ve all come to expect restaurants arbitrarily closing earlier than their published hours over the last couple of years, and expectations are already low for government workers - but give me a break dude. 4:30 means the taxpayers who pay your salary can show up right up to that time and they don’t need the attitude.

Like most everybody else, I truly enjoyed this extremely effecient and successful visit to renew my driver license. I’m a “special case” as in that my application requires research, complicated paperwork and extensive knowledge of “the system” to make it happen. Most offices simply dismiss me, due to lack of expertise or not wanting to deal with my situation. This is the only office that has always been able to help me. All staff is just so friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and persistent in helping me get back on the road, they go above and beyond and then some. I am blessed to have found people who pride themselves in excellence and customer service, thank you all so much. Then there’s also lots of parking, a clean office and hardly a line. In and out in no time. I know, it sounds too good to be true, especially if you have tried to make an appointment for the Daytona office and have to wait a month.. This is it, the best, thanks to Max and all other employees...

My family and I had just moved to FL from another state. We had 3 driver's licenses, 3 vehicle titles, and 3 registrations to do for Florida. We were helped right away. We had prepared and ensured we had all documentation necessary to make a smooth transaction. The entire process took about 90 minutes, but all throughout the process they were helpful, more than willing to answer questions, and friendly. We were helped by someone that was still in training and her trainer was with her the whole way. We had no problem being the test subjects! Glad we could help them help us. Not your typical "DMV" experience that you would expect. It was nice to experience a helpful and friendly atmosphere.
