I would consider myself an avid movie goer (1 or move movies most weeks) and my theater of choice in my home town of Florence, SC is Regal Cinemas Swamp Fox 14. Friday afternoons is my movie going day of choice with Saturday being close second. I LOVE the stadium seating resulting in no bad seat in the house. The chairs are very comfortable with drink holders and in the larger theater rooms they even lean back for even more comfort. Each theater room has large, easy viewing screens and great sound. Only negative to the great, loud sound in every room is sometimes if your movie is in a quiet scene and the room next to you is in the midst of a aerial dogfight with booming music or explosions you can easily hear the sound through the walls. Though I can safely say this has never taken away from my movie enjoyment.
Swamp Fox 14 almost always has the latest and greatest movies...unless there are just too many good movies released at once and then one or two may come out week or two later. I try to get to the theater 15 minutes before the movie starts so that I can order a personal pizza to be cooked. They have pizza, hot dogs, pretzels, along with the normal movie going foods and drinks and yes the prices are high, but really any entertaining event you go to these days has ridiculous prices so why should a movie event/experience be any different?
One thing I love to do while waiting on pizza to be cooked is to walk around the lobby and look at and/or take selfies with all the huge movie promotional posters or displays for current and upcoming movies or throw a few coins in and play an arcade game or two or try my luck at catching a prize in a claw grabbing game.
And finally...Yes I will agree the prices are higher than the other theater in town (Julia 4). It is a bit much to have to pay an extra $3 for 3D movies (not a fan they hurt my eyes & give me headaches), but for a regular 2D movie in and around the $8-$9 range for matinee showings isn't too bad. Overall though, I don't mind paying the higher prices because honestly the movie experience is worth it.
Lastly but not least, the employees are so friendly and helpful. Bought too much food they will help you carry it all to your seat or don't have time to wait on food to cook before your movie starts just let them know what theater room you will be in and they will have someone bring the food to you. That is what I call service. Oh and with movie theaters you expect popcorn and liquids to find themselves to the floor, but it doesn't stay there long because they always have someone coming around and sweeping/moping up fallen debris. And the bathrooms are kept tidy and clean which is a major plus in my book.
Trust me...you will have a GREAT movie viewing experience at Regal cinemas Swamp Fox 14 in Florence, SC. Hopefully this review will help someone decide to give Swamp...
Read moreMultiple issues here ! My family and I went to see Jumanji December 30 2019 the 4:45 pm showing. Arrived 20 min early to get tickets and concessions and to get seated before the movie started. First ,out of 4 ticket windows only 1 was open, when purchasing tickets I believe an assistant manager was in the booth with the ticket person counting money in plain site causing a distraction to the young lady trying to sell me tickets causing delay as well, also ignoring my wife's statement about one ticket being for a child, it took my wife asking her 3 or 4 times before the young lady responded to her question that one ticket is for a young child. Next out of 6 stations I believe only 2 were open to buy concessions with only 1 person at each station taking orders for concessions , there were 2 families at 1 station and 2 young adults at another, we waited between 5 and 10 min, we did not get anything .My family and I opted out of getting concessions to avoid missing the beginning of the movie as well as previews for upcoming movies . Get into the theater and then the speakers are not working for the commercials or previews , not the first time I have experienced this issue ! Once the movie started speakers worked fine. With about 40 minutes left of the movie the air in the theater was so cold that my nose and feet were so cold it was hard to focus on the movie, my family was extremely cold as well as well as other people around us complaining, luckily we took jackets . After the movie my son and I went to the restroom. The men's restroom was clean however the women's restroom floor was sticky and among other things. However in the men's restroom one urinal was out of order as well as a bathroom stall causing long wait issues. The out of order facilities looked like they were out of order for a while sense they were marked as so. Next Here in the restroom I had to let my young son go first because the stall doors are out of alignment to the point they wont shut and lock ! It has been a while sense we visited Swamp fox theaters hoping they would have been some corrections to the theater ,however after this past trip that was suppose to be a fun and memorable birthday trip for myself and family it will be a while before we go back ! Please look into repairing/updating this theater ASAP , and inform me when this has been done. Hard earned money these days to be spent at an enjoyable place to only be ruined by an experience such as this leaves a lasting bad memory , one of not wanting to go back.
Had some discussions with family the other day this place was built in 2002....
Read moreFirst of all I’ve NEVER had an issue with staff at this location, no matter how crazy things are always polite and professional.
However, they are severely understaffed and overworked, and I’m not sure if it’s management or corporate greed, but either way it needs to be addressed.
I’ll start by saying there is no organization to scanning tickets and concessions, you should not have every line be able to do both because it takes entirely too long. At most I’ve waited an hour, and typically the wait is about 20 minutes. There have been times when I’ve just left the line and gone to my movie without concessions or scanning my ticket and no one even notices. Thankfully I am an honest person and have begrudgingly been a member of their subscription services because I see so many movies. I’ve been on big movie weekends and employees are crying because it’s so busy, they have no help, and they’re getting yelled at by angry customers (while managers are just standing around, saw this during the wicked opening weekend). It’s infuriating that a corporate company like regal would allow this to happen. But hey, why hiring two people for a two people job when you can exploit one for less money. Of course customers are angry, they’re missing the movies because management doesn’t want to help or staff properly.
The place has not been renovated in years, and it shows. The building is literally falling apart, half the toilets in the bathroom do not work, (at least the women’s restroom, when they were out of order for a year and women had to use the men’s restroom though, it didn’t seem much better) it’s always flooded, the seats are uncomfortable and most of them are broken, there is a tear in every screen, the volume is either too loud or too soft or distorted, the carpets and seating are worn and moldy and always sticky and stink, and not to mention it is always disgusting, between flooded bathrooms, popcorn, soda and god knows what else on the floors you’re in for a world of smells and textures.
This is me BEGGING corporate to do something about this. The price to enjoy a movie night is astronomical enough, but to add insult to injury I have to spend all that money to see a movie in an understaffed and dilapidated building?
There truly isn’t a lot of options in Florence, but if you’re going to see a movie you’re better off at the Julia 4, at least they’re cheaper and a...
