We arrived at the welcome center only to be greeted with the most unwelcoming person we've met in, Florence. She bad mouthed the hotel we were staying at. Voicing how that was "The bad side of town" and how "We should be careful". She made a look of disgust while we told her the name of the hotel.
I was confused by this women's position for the Face Of The Town of Florence. She carried on about the Downtown. We told her we ate at Julia Bells and how we enjoyed it. She looked at us again in a general disgust. And, told us how we should eat downtown like, Town hall. We informed her we had been downtown three days in a row.
We left after about 10 minutes wishing we never went in. After she told us we were in "The bad side of town." We drove the entire town. All over the place. After that drive we were definitely more confused as the town businesses seemed to be all closed. Most of the town unfortunately run down.
Going through the downtown again. Paying closer attention. We realized most storefronts were empty. And the few places she did suggest were sporadically dotted through the downtown.
Which made me wonder if she was the one who was supposed to be promoting her town how did she lose sight of her job?
This lady working at the Florence Town Center we talked with was the unfortunate part of the entire trip.
As everyone who worked in the town and friendly people walking around were the highlight. Bartenders, hotel workers, fast food workers, waiters, waitresses, bakery store employees, grocery store workers, cashiers, and of course just general locals.
Thank you to the friendly people we encountered...
Read moreSaturday March 19th I took my kids to Palmetto Destruction. This was the first time for this event so we didn't know what to expect. We've been to Monster Jam, the circus, Disney on ice, and several other events in the past. But this event was different and was a complete disaster. Whoever decided to have this event indoors had no idea what they were doing. Not long after the event started it became unbearable due to the exhaust fumes and smoke coming from the vehicles. After about 25 minutes I had to take the small kids outside because they're eyes were burning. Me myself also had the same issue with my eyes burning but I also started coughing because my throat was irritated. I noticed I was the only one. Other people were coming outside and then later I noticed people starting to leave. Finally we decided it wasn't worth trying to stay so we left. I called the Florence center office today and spoke to a lady about getting a refund. I told her our experience and that we had a 8 month old baby with us and we were concerned about our health if we stayed. I told her I wanted my money back and that I was completely disappointed. She said that shouldn't have taken the baby to that event. Witch made her sound like a complete idiot. I guess the baby was supposed to stay home by himself or something? Breathing bad air is bad for any human not just children. Well anyway she took my number and said she would have someone call me back that could help me with that. So far I've heard nothing back. I'll see...
Read moreHorrible experience at this arena/convention center! The WWE wrestling was great as usual but the venue was VERY subpar. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! Urine EVERYWHERE! My 7 year old had to go to the bathroom, but he had to hold it until we got back to the hotel because every toilet was soaked in urine. The smells would make you gag. I brought up the condition of the bathrooms to an employee but he seemed very disinterested. His exact quote was "We'll have to clean them when this (event) is over." Great, but doesn't help my son. Also, most of the concession stands were closed, yet the few that were open had HUGE lines. If you got thirsty you had a decision to make, stand in line for 20 minutes or more and sacrifice part of the WWE experience or just stay parched. This problem was easily avoidable by opening up more concession stands. And, OMG, the sound system/acoustics in this venue were absolutely atrocious! We couldn't understand ANYTHING ANYONE with a mic said all night. And it wasn't just my 45 year old ears! My kids couldn't understand anything, the other fans sitting around us couldn't understand anything! We just had to blindly cheer or boo at whatever was being said without really having any idea what the wrestler was saying! Really kind of sad and definitely took away from the experience. I could go on and on, but I don't think I would ever go to an event here again, so I guess it doesn't...
