My dear old mother managed to ram one of my Cerwin Vega RE3s with her walker. It strongly pressed the woofer surround into the grill causing visible distortion but it didn't break right away. It waited until I put on Mad Max Fury Road. Since the RE3s anchor my Atmos theater system it took one (1) Doof Wagon to vanquish the woofer surround 100% in under a second. It was a total shred of the rubber.

I was already aware of Speaker Workshop's reputation so I brought in the damaged speaker and after about 3 business days it was finished. The other speaker had lesser damage from a different mother impact so when I got the first back, I took the second down as a major failure was becoming likely. These things are so big you don't easily get two in just a car anyway so I didn't mind doing two trips. So the second underwent a similar repair before it suffered the same fate at the drums of the Doof Warrior.

So now I have both back where they belong in my living room. I went through the ritual to recalibrate my amplifier and cranked it. I'm pleased to report they can throw bass with extreme precision again like when they were new. If anyone is unfamiliar with this sort of vintage speaker, they can in fact produce bass so powerful it can induce nausea with almost no distortion and these are actually on the small end of that sort of shenanigans.

If there were any flaw in this repair I would have broken them again tonight. Instead I eventually just overheated my amplifier. So that is now going to get a tear down cleaning to remove the accumulation of dust and fix the cooling fan.

Took my Goodwill find, a Dual 1214 turntable for a complete overhaul they took EVERYTHING apart and cleaned and relubricated it. Played fantastic for 2 months then it started to have a slight occasional lag in the speed. Called them up and they told me to bring it right in. It got moved to the front of the line and was ready in 3 days. It was determined that a bit of sludge/debris was missed in the motor cleaning. Yes they completely disassembled the motor and relubricated everything. You can trust your audio equipment to get repaired if possibleby by these people. Met Tom back twenty some years when he reconed my first pair of Realistic Mach One speakers that I got used. They needed fixed, played them with help of my son Robert. We were both very pleased with them once repaired. Picked up a second pair with the dispersion horns, needing fixed, and once again, Tom did his magic.
