USF Performing Arts Center — Attraction in Fort Wayne

Venue is beautiful (basement rental hall) but vendor load in and out is complicated and not communicated by the rental staff at all. The rental lady was not on site the day of the event and was extremely difficult to reach by phone for very necessary questions to do our jobs properly. Staff on site were very nice but did not know the info needed to take care of us. Also, all lighting controls on the back side of the hall (located in the hallway by the restroom) had plastic covers but did not lock so kids touched the lighting controls all night long and changed the lights constantly. The staff needs to cover the lighting controls with locking covers so this never happens again. Again, the venue is beautiful downstairs in the basement area but the rental manager Deb Bragg did not communicate necessary info to vendors or the bride and groom for this wedding. If you rent the venue, ask EVERYTHING up front and insist that the rental manager is on site the day of your event or no one will know what is going on, where to load in/out, or how the lighting works or how to lock it to prevent changes. They need to change the way they label the seat sections BACK to the original way. NO ONE knew where my seat was because

Sec R, Row C, Seat 301

didn't exist.

There is no Row C in Sec R. They had it all messed up. They should have continued the sections from the stage area on up as originally done.

I will give them credit for two things.

#1: The staff are GOOD. They tried and tried to find my seat. When they couldn't, they sincerely apologized. Very caring staff.

#2: The newer seats are comfortable for a big man. None of the armrests squeezing and hurting my kidneys like so many places. So this was a big relief.

My suggestion: Get your Section & Row labeling straightened out before some senior citizen like myself has a heart attack looking for a seat that...

Lovely building which needs some love. There are only three stalls in the primary women's restroom, and one sink. This leads to both long lines and unhygienic conditions as women leave without washing up (norovirus, anyone?). The stylized architecture could be shown to greater effect.

I understand that staff can vary by event, but the concert we attended had a newbie on the sound board. First sound was very tinny, then incredible reverb, and then the microphones just cut in and out altogether, so that big chunks of audio were missing. I know tech issues can happen, but this was not a malfunctioning mic, rather a sound board management issue. If this was facility staff, some training would...
