Dissapointed. I agree with Joseph Y Review on Yelp. The owner Travis Young is very unprofessional.
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the customer service and I must say it was absolutely abysmal. The level of incompetence and indifference displayed was truly astounding.
First and foremost, it was nearly impossible to get in touch with a live person anout my order. Their phone lines were constantly busy, and when I finally managed to reach someone, I was put on hold for an exorbitant amount of time. The lack of respect for my time and the complete disregard for efficient communication was beyond frustrating.
Furthermore, when I did manage to speak with a someone, they were unhelpful and seemed disinterested in resolving my issue. They lacked basic product knowledge and were unable to provide clear answers to my questions. It felt like I was speaking to someone who had no understanding of the company's offerings or how to address customer concerns.
To make matters worse, there was a complete lack of follow-up or accountability. Promised callbacks were never made, and when I attempted to escalate my concerns to a supervisor/ owner Travis Young, it was met with further indifference and a complete lack of empathy. It was clear that the company's customer service team was ill-equipped and inadequately trained to handle customer issues.
Overall, my experience with King Slayer service was nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of professionalism, knowledge, and basic courtesy left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. I strongly advise anyone considering their services to think twice, as their abysmal customer service will likely leave you with a sour taste...
Read moreI played in the Spider-Man Magic: The Gathering pre-release at noon Sept. 20.
The location is apparently moving soon and hopefully for the better, because the experience was not pleasant. The space is large, but only a single standalone air-conditioning unit attempts to cool it.
Southern California this week is under a heat wave of an unusually (for now) high humidity. I sweat easily, so I thought maybe it was just my personal suffering from the beginning of the event. However, by the third hour of the event, my much physically smaller and healthier opponent of that round was flush red and dripping sweat as well.
I did feel the air conditioning in the final hour of the four-hour event, but by then most of the participants were gone. Tip: The AC unit is positioned near the top tables, so perform adequately and you will be OK!
Also, I no longer live in Orange County, so only return on occasion to play with friends that still live there. I had signed up to play the prior set’s pre-release but my friend had a medical emergency preventing us from playing. I had called slightly before the event start time to cancel, but they were understandably busy with the actual event, so I was instructed to call back later. I was not reciprocated with similar understanding.
Please note that the only thing warm about this place is the physical temperature, not the customer service. Their adherence to their tight return policy is strict. Thankfully, I am fortunate enough to fully absorb the cost of my extenuating...
Read moreI first found this shop while looking for a place to play Magic: the Gathering, as many card shops near the 405 have shuttered over the past few years. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Kingslayer, while having just started carrying MtG product, already had multiple events planned weekly and was rapidly expanding their selection of supplementary products such as card sleeves, playmats, and deckboxes. I've since attended a handful of tournaments and felt very welcomed by both the staff and the other attending players. I even made a suggestion to the shop as to a supplementary product I'd like to see them carry and found it on their shelves when I returned the following week!
Despite the relatively small area here, this place also seems to carry a wide variety of comics and a staggering array of board games, some of which have open copies in their gaming room where you can try them out. The expected array of comic-related toys and collectibles also line the clean and well-stocked shelves. For those like me who boast little to no comic knowledge, the friendly staff can happily provide advice and recommendations.
I came to this place because I was happy to see a new shop open up nearby, and I've stayed thanks to the great staff and...
