Howelsen Place A302-
Downtown location is nice, the rest, not so much… Howelsen Place is comprised of 2 building, A & B. The underground parking is in building B, which provides some interesting challenges if you are staying in building A.
Arrival requires you to pull into the alley between buildings A&B, and find the parking garage door, enter a 6 digit code, open the garage door, pull your car in, and find your assigned space, easy enough.
Getting your luggage from the car to your condo in building A is a different story. You must find a luggage cart, push the luggage cart out of the parking garage, go cross the ally, enter a code, go thru a total of 5 doors, enter another code, then leave the cart by the elevator. Then go back to the parking garage (thru the 5 doors, and various codes), pull your car out of the garage, park in front of building A, load the cart, enter a code to get to the elevator and get the cart to your condo.
Then you must re-park the car in building B, enter various codes, go thru the 5 doors, and get to the condo. Whew…
As far as the condo was concerned, it was a nice size for a one bedroom condo for 2 people. Unfortunately some of the furnishings were not in acceptable condition. Bedside table drawer was broken, and all of the outdoor chairs were beyond repair. The bedroom closet looked like something in a collage dorm room, Christmas decorations, various fans, blankets, and bed skirts thrown in, or piled on the shelf. Garbage bags with stuff we were not brave enough to look into… And lastly, the Roku remote was missing, so local TV only.
The best news was the sheets and towels were clean and nice. Unfortunately the floors were not; sticky in the kitchen and dirty carpets throughout. We will find other accommodations for...
Read moreThis property was a good fit for our group of eight. 11/23-11/27/22. I was tempted to give a three star but the space and beds prompted the four star rating. Unfortunately, there continued to be a problem with the heat throughout our stay. The lodge supplied many heaters and we had to use them throughout our stay. We had no internet to watch the AV's game in the main living space. The owners should have internet and cable supplied throughout (like advertised). The kitchen was poorly stocked to prepare a gourmet dinner. We called, and the staff brought over some kitchen towels and additional things. There were no ceramic or glass serving dishes to serve a holiday dinner. The wisks were cheap, one plastic and the handle came off. No mixer, no electric can opener. Nice toaster. There were no staples like flour, sugar, baknig soda and powder. I suggest the owner update the kitchen. Needed: towels, serving dishes (not plastic), trivets for hot dishes, and oven mitts are needed, and small appliances. We didn't find the games until the last minute. All instructions with door codes, how to lock the doors on the back of townhome, internet, where to find things should be posted for the ease of the renters. We made due, and had a wonderful thanksgiving dinner. We were very busy and didn't want to spend our time on the phone with the lodge. Positives: The place was clean, plenty of bathrooms, bedding and towels are well stocked. The beds where very comfortable with nice linens and pillows. The hot tub was well maintained and a big hit!. The location was excelent for skiing, downtown and fairly private! The lodge staff was pleasant. I would recomend this rental, as I think they'll fix the...
Read moreBeware of bed bugs! We stayed with Steamboat Lodging company at their Elevate at Wildhorse property for three days over Labor day weekend. We had a lovely stay for the most part, but we wanted to warn anyone else staying here: the bedroom on the lowest floor has BED BUGS. The one person in our group who stayed in that room was covered in bites by the end of the trip (at first we thought they were mosquito bites, but then we did more research and realized they were definitely from bed bugs based on the size/pattern). Unfortunately, now that we've been home for two weeks, she started getting bites again & now has an infestation in her own home.
We flagged the issue to the Steamboat Lodging company, and they sent someone to check the beds who didn't find anything (I believe they did this - but bed bugs are also really hard to find).
Aside from the bed bugs issue, we had a truly lovely stay. Steamboat lodging was the most responsive / helpful vacation rental property I've ever stayed with. The rental was very clean & in a lovely community with a ton of great amenities. I know bed bugs are tough to spot / get rid of, and I don't think it's a sign at all of lack of effort from the property management company. I'm sure 99% of their rentals don't have this issue; we just wanted to warn people about Elevate...
