The Egg was the perfect destination for our Steamboat arrival breakfast. We drove over 14 hours for our pre-Christmas family vacation, and by 7am we were ravenous and ready for a good sit down meal. I came across The Egg doing a quick search on Yelp. I typically choose restaurants based on two things 1) Menu Selection and 2) Photos of Food and Inside the restaurant. The menu at The Egg offered a huge selection of food and beverages as well as options for modifications for those that are choosing healthier options and/or gluten free. We dined at The Egg on a weekday around 8am, and as a group of 7, we were seated right away. The host/hostess was friendly and accommodating for our large, over-tired, perhaps partially delirious group. There was a fun seasonal cafe/beverage menu that a few ordered from to get some caffeine in the body. There is also quite a selection of morning beverages to choose from as well. When we were all ready to order, everyone was able to order their meal to their personal specifications. I really appreciated that my gluten free sister was able to order herself a modified meal. Do yourself a favor and make sure to order a cinnamon roll to share with the table. It is big enough to share with 2-4 people, and comes to your table freshmade and warm. A few of the breakfast entrees ordered were: the breakfast burrito, biscuit & gravy with eggs, cambridge skillet, and athena scramble. Most of the entrees came with an option for a side, and I highly recommend the seasoned ranch potatoes. They are especially delicious, perhaps addicting. No one in our group ordered items from the lunch sandwich and salad options, but I could tell The Egg is also a great destination for lunch. Overall, our group was overly satisfied with our first meal in Steamboat Springs, and we will 100% be back in the future with The Egg a must on our...
Read moreOur visit to The Egg Steamboat was a mixed experience. While the food was good and the staff were friendly, the overall value didn’t match the price tag.
Food and Atmosphere
The menu offers standard breakfast options—pancakes, omelets, and other staples. While the food tasted fine, there wasn’t anything particularly memorable about it. It’s the kind of breakfast you’d expect at an average diner, not a specialty brunch spot. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the staff’s friendliness added a positive touch to the experience.
Price vs. Quality
Here’s where things fell short. For a basic breakfast for my wife, our four-year-old daughter, and myself, we ended up spending over $100. While we enjoyed our meal, the price was hard to justify given the average quality. For comparison, I’ve been to Yampa Valley Kitchen, which offers a much more unique and special dining experience at a similar price point.
Final Thoughts
The Egg Steamboat is a decent spot if you’re looking for a quick, friendly breakfast, but it’s not the best value for your money. For those wanting a more special or elevated breakfast experience, there are better options in the area.
Recommendation: If you’re nearby and don’t mind the price, the food and service won’t disappoint. However, if you’re looking for a standout breakfast experience, I’d suggest exploring other local spots.
Rating: 7/10 – Mostly for the friendly service and decent food, but the high price...
Read moreI love breakfast dishes, so I'm always looking for breakfast/brunch spots where ever I'm visiting and with a search through Yelp and Google Maps, spotted this restaurant that thankfully still had outdoor dining (albeit it was freezing/snowing when we visited). I'm sort of tired of getting take-out all the time so was really glad they had their own patio seating. I double checked first with the outdoor seating and the staff was very accommodating, they turned on extra fireplace warmers so we can be warm.
I ordered their Yampa Omelette with a side of country potatoes. The omelette's vegetables were tasty, especially loved their well seasoned potatoes (I'm a huge lover of breakfast potatoes). Boyfriend and I also ordered hot tea and coffee and was surprised that we each got our own jug of hot water/coffee for refills so that we didn't need to contact the staff too often.
The staff was friendly and made sure all our food came out also checked that we were enjoying it. Food was a solid three, but an extra star for the accommodation/service from the staff. :)
Had a great brunch here before we went to do our...
