My husband, friends, and I went out to eat at Fiesta Jalisco tonight. Our waiter was Octavio. When he brought our food out he seemed really rushed, and we just assumed that the plates were hot and that he was busy. However, when we got the bill for the whole table, we requested to split the bill. He said that they were too busy to split the bill. We realized at that point that we should have asked for our check to be split before we ordered our food, but we compromised by writing the last four digits of the credit card number next to each charge so that we could each be charged appropriately. He brought the bill and our credit cards back and threw our cards on the table. Octavio said that what we wrote didn’t make sense. We explained how we wanted the checks to be separated and eventually he brought the bills out separated, but separated incorrectly. He got one bill correct, but the other two checks were incorrect. When we asked if he could fix it, he said that it was too confusing. We asked to speak to a manager and Octavio refused to get the manager. We asked repeatedly for a manager and were consistently told that he was too busy to come talk to us. We eventually (after about 45 minutes) got our checks separated correctly by a different employee, but never got to talk to a manager and never received an apology from Octavio. On the way home we asked the hostess for the manager’s name and were told his name was Mario. When we got back to where we were staying one of us called the restaurant and asked to talk to the manager. When we spoke to him, he didn’t seem concerned about our experience or the issues we had during our dinner. We had also asked for a box for our leftovers, but never got one. We will not return to this restaurant when we visit Steamboat Springs...
Read moreNormally when we go to the western slope we eat at a favorite place in Glenwood Springs. Because of a large wildfire, we had to make a long detour and ended up in Steamboat Springs at supper time.
I searched for “Mexican restaurants” and Fiesta Jalisco seemed like a good choice. I wasn’t expecting to find my new favorite Mexican restaurant.
The atmosphere is terrific, the decor is authentic and good quality. Even the music isn’t the standard Mexican restaurant mariachi soundtrack. (Not that I mind that - I love mariachi.)
Service was top notch, with one tiny exception. When I called ahead to make sure there was seating, the lady on the phone was a bit abrupt. We were seated immediately and had drinks and menus quickly.
The menu looked good with lots of options but I didn’t look it over because after the waiter suggested carne asada, I didn’t need a menu.
The food was delivered so quickly it was a bit surprising. It was everything it should be; hot, looked awesome and lots of it. But the best part was the taste - I have never had better carne asada. Anywhere. Also never better refried beans.
The only downer with this place is that it’s too far away to visit often.
Also, a special shout out to the staff. They are professional and very friendly. I would have stayed and talked with them for an hour or two. But we had to get...
Read morePlace was ok.... we got a reservation which I definitely recommend and we were seated immediately. So that's good... I ordered a $12 strawberry margarita and coming from Texas is wasn't a good margarita. I caught no buzz and tasted no tequila. 😐 -- anyways... I ordered the chicken la valentine because the menu described it as chicken on a bed of rice with a variety of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, red and green bell peppers, mushrooms and onions), topped with cheese... when we got it it was mostly rice and chicken with tons of cheese. There was no cauliflower and minimal of all the other veggies. And when I say minimal I mean they took one broccoli florets and chopped it up. One little piece of julienned red pepper and like three green... not a lot of mushrooms. We told the waiter and he kind of didn't have any gumption to fix it so I asked him if I could have a plate of cauliflower and peppers to add the the plate. He brought some... a little... better than nothing. The flavor of the food was amazing, however. My friend was here two nights before and raved about the place and the margarita they ordered. He ordered the same one when we all came and it was completely different. I wasn't a huge fan of this place but it just seems to lack on...
