I travel frequently with Marriott (50+ nights per year). This is the nicest Residence Inn I've stayed at (3 stays, 1 with my dog). Aside from the GM (more on that below), the staff has all been a pleasure to interact with. Apsen at the front desk is particularly kind and just incredibly good at her job. The hotel location is terrific, the facilities brand new, and the breakfast excellent.
That said, two warnings: 1.) I found Ryan, the GM, to be quite condescending and dismissive when I interacted with him. The context was that the door had shut behind me while my dog was in the room, and then the lock malfunctioned. The receptionist could not open the lock, and my dog was stuck inside, terrified, for an hour while we banged on the door and tried all sorts of things to open it. Ryan came in to fix the problem (but only after multiple calls by his poor receptionist, who was the only person on duty that night). When he arrived, he opened the door but then was dismissive of my concerns when I raised how tough of a situation this was, including telling me that I must not have cared all that much about my dog if I was still discussing the issue with him rather than hanging out with her (they did not have another room available and could not guarantee that we would not get shut inside if we tried to shut the door before the morning, telling me it was not a big deal to simply have an open door to my room for the rest of the night / morning; he also was initially dismissive of my request for a return of my points for that room for that stay - I had booked two rooms for a few nights for my family and so I simply could not go elsewhere given the challenges of finding rooms in Steamboat in the summer). Ultimately the matter was resolved, but I found Ryan's tone to just be a real turn off and it resulted in me getting quite unkind in my own responses to him (shouting matches with a hotel GM is not on the top of the list of my favorite vacation activities). I want to be clear: I understood that Ryan was operating under the constraints of having a totally full hotel and that what he ultimately offered was more than fair given those circumstances.. I simply found his tone and manner of approaching discussions with me to be really rude and disrespectful. All I needed was recognition that something wasn't right and that he was committed to fixing it.
2.) There are some hidden charges, including apparently a $10/night parking fee, which can be hard to find on the Bonvoy app. Beware!
All of that said, it's really hard to fault this hotel other than the...

ALL SUPERB!” Total score 5 out of 5 Cleanliness 5 out of 5 Dining 5 out of 5 Location 5 out of 5 Service 5 out of 5 Amenities 5 out of 5 Value for the Money 5 out of 5 We stayed the week of February 28-March 6, 2021...Room #326, 2BR/2BA...this property was spotless, granted, it is a newly opened Residence Inn, but you could tell the staff was intent on keeping it looking great for the long haul! LOCATION: We chose this property due to the following...3 minute walk to Safeway for groceries, 3 minute walk to Ski Haus Liquors, 3 minute walk to Ski Haus ski shop (we don't rent skis, but this place had a good selection of boots/skis), 5 minute walk to "The Egg" (great breakfast spot, delicious Bloody Mary's), 5 minute walk to "Fiesta Jalisco" (good mexican food and margaritas), 5 minute walk to the "Ore House" (great steak-house), close to DT Steamboat, getting a Lyft/Uber no problem (5 minute ride to DT), also...the Steamboat Transit "blue line/red line" stop directly across the street from property, a great way to get to Gondola Square at Steamboat to start/end your ski day, also very useful for downtown Steamboat rides in the evening for dinner, plus..."IT'S FREE"! We did use Uber/Lyft and SB Transit to go dinner during the week! STAFF: Very personable and everyone exemplified excellent customer service skills. AMENITIES: They have a great lobby bar with excellent bartendress', wish I could remember everyone's names, but MacKenzie was stellar! Make's a stiff drink too! POOL & HOT-TUB open & large enough to comfortably work with the covid nightmare...great to soak in the hot-tub after a full day of skiing (we skied 5-days straight/IKON BASE Pass). Decent breakfast options, I'm sure there would be more variety with no covid, but not the hotels fault! ROOM LAYOUT: 2 BR/2BA with living area and kitchen in middle of unit between the two rooms...we had 3-people in room, but could easily handle 6-people comfortably. TRANSPORTATION: We flew into Hayden (HDN/Yampa Valley Airport), used Steamboat Limos private Ford Expedition ($150.00 including tip, Rick was great driver)...used Lyft XL going back to HDN, waited 5-minutes on a Saturday to get picked up at Residence Inn. Never needed or missed having a rental car, between the Steamboat Transit and Uber/Lyft as mentioned above, plus the walkability to get to many places...that's all you need! What more can I say, we were impressed with this...
Read moreSo many things went horribly wrong, and it was still an incredible stay! My husband and I drove in 3 hours from Denver and stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary. First, the Cons: Building had plumbing issues when we arrived, and we went the entire first night without sinks, showers, or a working toilet (gross - not exactly romantic). We chose to stay after ski season and before summer season (end of April) so many things were closed - including the complimentary evening bar service BUT then the Pros: Amazing front desk staff who were kind, proactive, and worked so graciously (even under pressure) from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We saw them deal with a lot of water related complaints and grumpy people, but never once did things seem chaotic or rude. Our second night (water back on) my husband sneakily bought a bouquet of flowers and asked the front desk to leave it in our room after we went to dinner, so that it would surprise me when we returned. They left the flowers beautifully arranged in a vase with a 'Happy Anniversary' card and complimentary tiny bottle of champagne which was so above and beyond! It was absolutely touching. When we checked out, we were surprised to find that the hotel also compensated us for the cost of the first night (due to the water issues) without us even requesting! It was such a blessing. BONUSES: The whole building feels modern and luxurious, the rooms were ENORMOUS and sparkling clean. The pool and hot tub was immaculate, fun, and ran perfectly the entire time we stayed, despite the water issues. Walking distance to grocery store, Starbucks, and several lunch good lunch restaurants - a very short drive to downtown Free breakfast is actually really good with real scrambled eggs (not powdered), real sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, etc. They included so many little touches, like the free s'mores packs, to really make you feel special. The staff obviously take pride in the establishment they run. It's walking distance to grocery store, Starbucks, and several lunch good lunch restaurants - a very short drive to downtown
All in all, despite having problems, I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone who is passing...
