The Trailview Overlook one of many stops you can make along Hermit Road Drive where you find outstanding views east and into the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

This is the first stop along the drive out to Hermit's Rest. Its position allows you to see several historic landmarks like Kolb Studio, Lookout Studio and the historic hotels back in the village, along the South Rim.

You can reach Trailview Overlook by walking the Rim Trail, by free village bus shuttle which stops here or by car. There is limited parking space here so early visits might be ideal if you are driving and want to make sure to include a stop here.

We really enjoyed this particular viewpoint for close location to the village as well as it allowing views of the village historical landmarks as well.

Note: As you are looking directly east from this viewpoint, you will be facing the sun in the morning. This makes photos of the village buildings a bit difficult. If you want good shots, you might want to make your way back to this spot later in the day when the sun is...

Only 3 stars due to over crowding. Sure it was Saturday and about 2pm but we started our hike about 9:30 am at hermits rest and after building the whole west side of the room trail seeing only a few people at the shuttle stops this place was crazy elbow to elbow busy which really sucks. There are some very nice views at this over look and we saw a ram family on one of the near by ledges. Pro tip to see this shuttle stop from the red line. Walk from bright angel trail along the room trail. You can arrive all the way up until 10:00 and it will not be crowded( the line to get in the park will still be 2 miles long waiting to go thought the entrance). If you can hike from bright angel trail all the way to hermit's rest about 8 miles that includes going to all the look out spots along the rim trail. We took lunch with us( hot soup as it was chilly out) and stopped for lunch about 6 miles in. If you go to this overlook or do the room trail hike give us a like and follow us for more reviews, travel, food, and...

We were visiting Grand Canyon on a roadtrip. Time was limited, so we decided to do an easy and quick "hike". It took only appr. 20 mins to get here from the Village. We parked at the Parking lot D which was convenient. The views were gorgeous and there are some spots along the trail to just sit down and relax by yourself.

I recommend to come after 18:00 when there are no major crowds. Even on Saturday evening, there were just a few groups along the whole trail. The path is paved. The overlook is accessible also by the shuttle bus. The stairs down the overlook point are just not accessible.

In conclusion, this was perfect as it took only 1hr there and back from parking our car. Next time we will definitely plan for more time, to discover the other overlooks that can be accessed by continuing...

This was one of my favorite viewpoints in Grand Canyon NP. True, the views weren't as spectacular as some of the other viewpoints (Mohave, Hopi, Pima, and Yavapai were my favorites), but what made me love this viewpoint so much was being able to look down on the Bright Angel Trail and see the miles of twists and turns that I climbed up the day before. I had a similar feeling at Yaki Point being able to look down on the South Kaibab Trail. If you hike these trails (which I highly recommend if you have the fitness levels), these viewpoints and the scenery below will seem even more incredible. Even if you don't hike these trails, the views are still amazing
