The worst travel experience in my life! The most racist and deeming place!
I’m a 50 year old woman who is a very respectful and avid traveler. Tonight I have just had the worst and deemining experience at the Maswik Pizza Pub. (I will make a side note that we were a party of 5 speaking in Spanish, and were talking in a normal volume, no rowdiness.) This Karen, the manager on January 7th 2024, treated me with most contempt possible and even called me drunk when I hadn’t drank a drop of alcohol! It was 6:15pm and was just entering to join my family. They were there like 50 mins before me. I promise you, all I did was enter the place and walked to my family at the bar. I was about to sit and join them when she looked at me and VERY rudely told me “you can’t sit there, your group is too big”. I proceeded to tell her that I did not know that and I would move. The other server apologized and served me a beer. I was leaving and was taking my beer out, because I felt so bad! She came over took my beer away and said “you are drunk leave”. I was stunned and said “I hadn’t had a drink all day” when I told her that, she said “just go or I’ll call the police.” That women, the manager, at the Pizza Pub was extremely rude and even threatened to call the police on me. She called the security guard and they dismissed her and THEY called her a Karen, said she had done this before and apologized for the inciden, even the front desk staff also apologized. They clearly saw I was sober and my family was being respectful at all times. The other young server was super nice and apologized but the damage to our evening was done. This experience is the worst I have ever had in 50 years of life! I am a college professor and from now on I will educate about not entering the Maswik Pizza Pub! . You can stay at the lodge if you desire but beware of the Karen at the...

I ordered a bratwurst with chili. Color literally made you think of dead skin; out of this world and into the afterworld. A few kidney beans dipped in stale marinara does not constitute “chili.” The smell was potent; searing, almost. Emphasis on cross-training led to a bad game of musical chairs as I witnessed one employee extract a burger patty from a vat of unrefrigerated fermenting patty water, slap it on the grill, nuke it, and then shove it into crevices of the waste pile in displeasure. Then she moved to the next station as another employee took a dip in the vat. This roundabout fashion resulted in the woman in front of me not receiving onions on her hot dog, and she was so frustrated she left without her desired topping. My friend’s French fries were so hard and mummified that King Tut would have been jealous. They concatenated under the heat lamp for seven minutes while my chicken fingers were still waiting to dipped. Again, too many staff on rotating roles. No communication. Buns had mold growth that would have been visible from the lowest point off of Mathers Overlook. I’m not sure what I wish that I could forget more, the formidable taste of the brat or that I regrettably swallowed my first (also last) bite.
Best course of action: turn around and save the $17. Run and don’t look back. If you’ve ventured so far as to take the first bite, pray, and then run.
Recommendations: limit food options and focus on serving a trimmed selection adequately. Consider lending some of the staff behind the grill to the check out area. My friend was charged for a crispy chicken sandwich and she got a chicken strip meal. Effectively train each person with 1-2 roles...
Read moreFood/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - came here after climbing out of the canyon so we think anything and everything will taste great at this point! Penne Pasta with Marinara Sauce and Meatballs with a slice of garlic bread. The sauce was a little sour and the noodles were overcooked. It was warm rather than hot and the serving was quite small. The garlic bread was great though as it was soft in the center and crunchy along the crust!
Supreme pizza dough was initially pretty good in the first few bites but it is a bit doughy along the edge. It also was warm rather than hot. And for some reason they charged us $3.75 rather than $3.50 as posted...
Went back a second time for Chili Cheese fries were hot and fresh so there was about a 7 minute wait for it. The fries were great but the chili was quite salty
Ambience: 5/5 - when you walk past the check in area, there are 4 counters with different food and services. It's well spaced and clean. Once you check out, there's a large dining area with clean tables and some holiday decorations. Very warm inside! Lots of employees wandering around
Service: 5/5 - friendly and attentive. Not the fastest service but we got what we asked for
Value for price: 3/5 - some grab and go options and some food on the hot plates. Not the best food but good for some...
