If I could give this restaurant a zero I would.
Here’s what happened: walked in with my family of 5. Sat down, I was alittle tired from our 4 mile hike along the rim. Kids were very hungry I was very thirsty but cold. It snowed and snowed and temps were low. I asked for tea and honey. The waitress barked, “we don’t have honey!” I said ok, but alittle stunned at her demeanor. She then said, Do you want it or not!” Again in an angry tone. Ok I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was having a bad day, I thought. Next came the ordering, I declined to order as I was not that hungry but my kids and husband did order. I was perfectly fine as I thought I’ll order something to drink and get something later when I’m more hungry. My kids ordered chicken Ceaser wraps and my husband a hamburger. Everyone said the food was just average but my oldest and middle said they didn’t care for it. Then came me, I asked if the ladies across the way were drinking Mountain Dew as it sounded good to me and the way the water glasses and “beers” were placed, it looked like Mountain Dew. She snapped back, that drink!, I said yes, what are they drinking it looks like Mountain Dew? She then snapped and wiggled her body around and moving her head back and forth as she snapped at me and said that’s beer not Mountain Dew! As she said this she didn’t even give me an opportunity to respond by asking for a sprite, mountain dew, etc! She just turned around and was off. Left me with no drink! Then when she came back to check in she only faced my husband and would only communicate with him. It was such odd behavior! Almost as if this women had something against women. Very weird. Well, what could I do, other then leave her a zero tip and smile as she watched me write down a zero with a line through it. My tip to this place, be nicer to...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. We stopped here because it was close to our campsite. Biggest mistake of our entire trip. The 4 of us ordered the burger (cost of $16.50) and also ordered some appetizers. The apps were ok, but the wax paper for the loaded tots was so thin that it tore/stuck to the tots and came off as we tried to eat them. Still not discouraged, we ate the food and waited for our burgers. When they brought our food, we got 3 of the 4 burgers. My wife’s burger (gluten free option) was two slices of white bread just barely toasted. Not even brown at all. After waiting for a few minutes we stopped our waiter and asked where our 4th burger was. He seemed confused and went to go check. After another few minutes the 4th burger (mine) was brought out. By this point, the other three had started eating and we had realized that all the burger buns were hard as a rock. One person ate it, one person took the top bun off because it was so bad. When mine came it was more of the same. We ate what we could, and asked for the check and to speak to a manager. A young man came over and asked what our issue was. I told him about the buns, and how we had to wait for our food (several tables came in after us and ate WAY earlier than us), my burger was forgotten, and how the buns were rock solid. The manager told us that we were actually pretty lucky with the rock hard buns because usually the buns are WAY worse. He then said I’m sorry about your meal, and walked away. Our bill was $130 for 4 burgers 1 app a few drinks. If you made it to this point, again I urge you to go anywhere else. This is highway robbery and they are praying on people who come to the park looking for a convenient meal in the park. This place is horrible. Grand Canyon, please close this place down as it tarnishes your...
Read moreWife and I are staying in the village and went to eat dinner here - no wait, got sat down fairly quickly and had our drink order taken and served almost immediately. Wife got coffee and it was cold like it had been sitting out since breakfast. That was rectified and we ordered dinner. Wife got the fish and chips, and the fish was cold/undercooked (one felt like it was barely unfrozen). Ended up getting comped a free dessert by the waiter, but it was overall a pretty rough experience for how much we paid for the meal and how much we're paying Xanterra to stay on their property. Add to that the fact that it's not peak season, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and there were a large number of hosts, wait staff, and bussers standing in groups gabbing out in the open and milling about - this place seemed poorly managed. Don't get me wrong, the staff was friendly, but if you have a bunch of people without stuff to do, get them something to do or at least get them out of sight of your customers so when mistakes happen it looks like a one off instead of it looking like no one's running the ship.
Another weird thing - we had a busser, not our waiter, take our drink orders and serve us upon being seated. The waiter only came to the table to take our food order and then served the food. That seems uncommon to me. Then we had three different bussers come to ask us if we needed refills at different points (uncertain if this was due to the mistakes with my wife's orders or random, but based on the staffing levels, seemed more likely people trying to find stuff to do). Again, poor management of staff and likely a failure up the chain of command at a few levels. I don't recommend...
