McClintock is a beautiful wedding venue for a non-traditional wedding. The location is perfect in the heart of downtown Frederick on Carroll Creek. We had our ceremony at the CCLP Amphitheater which is across the creek from McClintock. The beauty of an outdoor wedding without extensive travel logistics is perfect and a huge benefit compared to other venues.
McClintock really is a great value, as a working distillery and tasting room, the venue is already set up to host guests which reduces the need for tons of decorations, flowers, curtains, etc. Knowing what we know now, this was a huge advantage and kept our wedding on budget! The rustic feel of a working distillery, the vintage cart, barrels, exposed brick, and Edison bulb lighting creates the perfect ambiance. Additionally, the tasting room size makes the reception/party extremely fun without having to go get a drink from the bar elsewhere or the dance floor getting too crowded. The venue layout is really perfect.
The McClintock team is super inviting and add a few extra details to make your day memorable. The mixologist crafted unique cocktails for our event including a Chai Pear, Gin Mule which was the hit of the day. Our guests loved seeing the bar full of McClintock’s products and I purchased multiple bottles to take home.
One thing to note, as a non-traditional wedding venue, McClintock requires more coordination with vendors. We highly recommend hiring Caitlin, she has a wonderful list of recommended vendors and mastered the logistics making our day seamless and without any...
Read moreFriends recommended we stop in and try their gin.......their recommendation was spot on. This place is a gem! There is the distillery and tasying room and then they have the Back Bar for cocktails. We visited both, and I will review the Back Bar seperately.
The distillery and tasting room is in a historic building that was formerally a garage.
We were greeted right away and directed to the bar for a tasting. Tastings are $5 and that is credited back if you purchase something.
You can taste their full offerings.....rye, bourbon, vodka, gin and liquors. Everything is organic. They also have an assortment of shrubs.
We tried it all!!!!! And I seriously liked it all. They have 3 varieties of gin- each unique with an amazing botanical mix.
The rye is made with red rye.
Melissa helped us with our tasting and she is WONDERFUL! So personable and knowledgeable. I loved learning about the history of the disterilly and the care that goes into each of the spirits. We will be back!!!!!
My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness...
Read moreWe drove 8 hours from Michigan to attend their day-long Distilling 101 class yesterday, and it was worth every hour of that drive! Braeden did a phenomenal job giving us hands-on instruction, starting with a discussion of the importance of clean, quality grain (our class used an heirloom non-GMO rye), and ended with 2 labeled bottles of rye per person plus a barrel for aging to take home. Coffee, water & donuts were provided at the start of class, and a delicious lunch was brought in at the break. We appreciated the printed copies of the instructional slides that were made available first thing in the morning (with a promise of getting the slide deck via email later) - it made it easier for notetaking while Braeden shared tips & techniques for home or commercial distilling. Zach was also incredibly helpful in explaining the distilling steps along the way (and tips for shipping! 😉). The bonus was 2 adorable and friendly dogs - especially if we had food! 😂 We really enjoyed sampling all of their products at the lunch break and left with quite a haul (given the 8-hour drive between us)! Hopeful that they'll perhaps consider offering future classes virtually, maybe on mixology? 🤞🤞🤞 12 out of 10 stars - highly,...
