I've been a regular at this Thai restaurant, often with family, and we've had bills over $$$$ each time. However, my recent visit with just my daughter and wife for a quick meal left me quite disappointed. Everything was fine until I requested some condiments. Unfortunately, that's when things took a turn for the worse.
The server brought an incredibly tiny container of chili flakes and a small saucer of what seemed like a knock-off Sriracha sauce. When I inquired about vinegar-dipped pepper, the server claimed they didn't have it and insisted they only had fish sauce chili. Instead of accommodating my request, she kept repeating herself, which was frustrating.
Finally, I asked a male server for assistance, and he brought over what I needed. While the food itself is good, the experience was marred by the stingy and unhelpful condiment service. The use of cheap plastic containers and the meager portion sizes for the price we paid was disappointing. I can't recommend this place to anyone, and I doubt I'll be returning.
I want to emphasize that this review is based solely on my personal experience, and my disappointment is primarily related to the service and value I received. Service is of utmost importance to me, especially since I've had great experiences in the past with this and similar businesses. While the food quality remains decent, it's the decline in service and the perceived lack of value for the price paid that led to this...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since their very first week in downtown Frederick, back when the food was amazing, portions were generous, and the experience felt worth the price. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. I ordered my usual drunken noodles — something I’ve enjoyed many times before — and what I received was shocking: $22 for 5 shrimp, maybe 7 noodles, and half an onion. That’s not a meal, that’s an insult.
When I politely asked the server about the portion and requested extra noodles, I was told (with a very dismissive attitude) that they “weigh their plates” and that this was the normal portion. The response was not only unhelpful, it came across as rude and condescending. Good customer service means listening to a guest’s concern and trying to make it right — not brushing them off.
What makes this even more frustrating is the clear sense that if someone else had spoken up — someone who didn’t look like me — the staff might have been more willing to address the problem. As an ethnic woman, it’s disheartening to feel like my complaint wasn’t taken seriously.
Restaurants need to remember that people are spending their hard-earned money and coming back because they want to support local businesses. Shrinking portions, rising prices, and rude service is not acceptable. I used to recommend this place to friends, but after this experience, I can’t do...
Read moreOur son chose here for his birthday dinner and it was our first time trying Thai food. We always stayed away from Thai because we thought all curry was the same. Nope! We were so wrong!
We started off with a warm sake that came piping hot in a porcelain carafe with enough in it for 3 small cups while my wife had a beer. Next, we shared a dumpling app. My wife wasn't too impressed but I enjoyed it. It reminded me of a stuffed cabbage with a teriyaki sauce. For the entrees, my wife wasn't very hungry and got the pork fried rice while our son suggested I get the duck (red) curry. My wife's rice was just OK and the pork was way overcooked, but I thoroughly enjoyed the duck curry. The duck pieces were plentiful, tender and paired well with the sweet, carrot-forward red curry.
The only negative isn't even a negative. More like an oddity: the restrooms. The sign for them are on an exit door at the back of the tiny restaurant where a rotting floor awaits you on the other side. This area is the "foyer" to the sushi place upstairs. You have to cross this area and go through another plain door to find the restrooms that are shared by both restaurants. Definitely gives off speakeasy vibes.
After this meal, we're now open to exploring the Thai restaurants in our area (Frederick is a bit of a drive for us). If we're ever back in Frederick, we'll be sure to...
