Came here with my kids to enjoy this area next to the river that has become more popular recently with the Hispanic community. I have lived here for about 23 years and now the area is being guarded by very rude (Racist Impression) employees. If you are not a resident you are charged $25, which is way overpriced when you can swim in any other part of the river and park for free. Residents come in for free. The parking lot has a terrible design and you will be yelled at for parking in the wrong spot. Yet they expect you to park in tight lanes and risk hitting other vehicles. We were getting ready to leave when a Hispanic family attempted to park in the wrong area and were confronted by an male employee with long hair. He asked them if they had paid, despite the family being already in the parking lot, meaning they already passed the guarded gate and talked to someone. He did not ask them if they lived in the area which should be the first thing asked. The family member who was talking did not seem to speak English very well. The employee did not attempt to listen to his answer and asked the other employees, who said "no they didn't pay". The male employee then yelled at the family to get out, instead of professionally confirming the address on their IDs, and politely asking them to leave. I wish I was recording this sad experience, even my children heard and asked why he was yelling. I don't think I will be returning until they hire more professional employees who are more patient and understanding with others who do not speak the same language that well. Or hire employees that are bilingual, especially when it is obvious that the majority of the people coming there are Hispanics. This experience happened on 7/30/2022 around 1-1:30PM for reference to who hired the employees...

Read moreSometimes its really crowded, sometimes its barren. The deepest part is maybe 4 or 5 ft, but the vast majority is between 2 to 3 feet deep from my experience. It is a tidal river, so levels fluctuate and this river is prone to flooding. This is something to think about when planning. There are plenty of spots to lay out with your significant other and/or friends/family. Some grilling spots up in the grassy area are popular for family cookouts. Walking barefoot is a gamble, as i have often found broken glass in the water as well as along the sand. Also, bird and geese poo litter some areas during some parts of the year, making it difficult to avoid laying your towel down. But, it IS a beach, and better than driving an hr or three to any other beaches if you dont have the time or money...
