I checked online to see if a book I wanted was available at this store , it was . I ordered the book online to pick up in store the following day. I signed up my email to get the 15% off coupon code which I used for that order. My order was canceled because the item was not in stock. I called the store to double-check and I was told that no the item is not in stock. I called 4 other Barnes & Nobles and found that a B&N location an hour away had the book in stock. I placed an order online to pick up at that store. Could not use my coupon because even though my previous order was canceled the coupon was somehow used. Shortly after that order was canceled too, even though I confirmed with the store that in fact they had it stock. I decided to call the B&N store an hour away to have them put the book on hold. I didn't realize when I called, I actually called the Freehold location, but they did put the book on hold for me. The next day when I was ready to go pick up the book I called the last Barnes & Noble number in my phone to confirm that they still had the book on hold. That's when I figured out that the Freehold location is the one that had the book on hold for me. I was relieved but also very surprised and agitated because Freehold B&N originally told me that the book was not in stock. My error saved me a 2 hour round trip drive . I was annoyed but I figured after all the time I wasted trying to purchase this book at least I only had to drive 20 minutes to the Freehold location. When I got there they did have that book on hold but the book cost quite a bit more then the online price. The woman at the register did say that she could try and find somebody that maybe able to try and adjust the price to the online price, but at this point Barnes & Noble had wasted quite enough of my time.( If it wasn't for the fact that this was a gift I would not have bought this book & just left the store at this point) I feel that they should have at least honored the online price automatically because twice my order was canceled even though the book was in stock . I was able to use a 20% off coupon but even with the coupon I still paid more then my original online order. And this is what upsets me the most out of this whole ordeal. That after all that trouble & wasted time, and supposed issues with the online ordering system , in the end I ended up paying more for the book. In my opinion their whole online purchasing system is rubbish. I can honestly say that after this experience I have no desire to ever buy anything from any Barnes &...
Read moreThis has been my local bookstore since it opened (alas there are no local independent bookstores). I miss the Starbucks, as I'd happily get a coffee and then browse/read for a while while relaxing amidst so many books. Over the years they've increased floor space for games/stuffed animals to the detriment of book sections that just don't get the sales. That said, they still have a fantastic collection of popular fiction and magazines, as well as new and popular titles in the various non-fiction areas. I do miss the wider selection in crafts and other sections (history, religion, psychology). I love being able to order books they don't carry and pick them up there to avoid the...

This Barnes & Noble has a very good selection, particularly of Japanese Manga. There are some series that you can’t find in some neighbouring stores and I’m glad those can be found here. Extra helpful are the staff who treat me as a valued member and place orders through their warehouse for free delivery with the member discount applied after they’ve spent their time looking for it around the store! While that service is available in locations across the country, this store hasn’t given me any hassle in doing so through them and that deserves some level of recognition of being “above and beyond.”
Keep it up, B&N Freehold, and thanks for being my local...
