On Saturday 7/14, I was here with my two sons. When the line got to us, my 8-year-old took a minute to look at the flavors. An employee then asked us to move aside to pick and let the other customers order first. Since I didn't want to be a bother, I agreed and instructed my sons to do so. Afterwards, there was no one in line after me, and my 8-year old son said he wanted vanilla and asked the employee what toppings are available. Instead of just answering my son, or providing a few suggestions, he asked us to move to another side of the store to look at the topping list, where other customers were standing.
As I felt that it was inappropriate for him to ignore my 8-year-old son, I discussed the matter with him and asked for his name. Instead of feeling remorse for his action or attempting to rectify the situation, he felt annoyed, rubbed his face and then he screamed security. After I asked for his name a second time, he lied and said he already gave it to me. I was only able to take a photo of his back, and he was the older stocky employee on the left of the attached photo.
Haagen Dazs sells ice-creams, and a majority of customers are kids. Most kids nowadays are afraid to say what they want out loud in a public setting, so Instead of properly interacting with our next generation, this employee chose to ignore my 8-year old son and treated us like a bother. I understand that an ice-cream shop at a mall might be a stressful setting in the summer; however, when I addressed the issue, he could've simply apologized instead of acting the way he did. I hope Haagen Dazs corporate will address this issue with the franchisee.
We frequent Haagen Dazs often, on 7/6 we visited the shop in NYC's WTC, and we were treated with the utmost respect. The weather was just as hot, but the employees there didn't rush us and even gave my kids sample flavors to try. In comparison, this store failed in many ways. I will never buy Haagen Dazs from this...
