Today my daughter had the 9:00 AM appointment, went into taking a driving test, the driving instructor, he requested us to unplug/turn off the dashcam. This was unusual to us at the moment but we didn't think much about why and ask for clarification until he failed my daughter by telling me that she turned left on red when she told me the lights were still GREEN. This is her third attempt. She took the test 2 times in Western Maryland and Baltimore, the previous times, none of these 2 instructors minded about having the dashcam in the car while they were in the car with her. It was for her safety and everyone else.
After much reflection, I wanted to air my frustration and disappointment regarding this unfair treatment that my daughter has endured. The reason I'm writing this that I believe this instructor was shady and had a personal agenda against my daughter, who is an Asian American, and he's white. He requested us to turn off the dashcam has created the following shady reasons:
Now, she has to wait another week to retake the test again but I believe it is incredibly unfair when the instructor put my daughter at a disadvantage in any dispute over what he said/she said. She drives the road around this town countless times in Germantown/Gaithersburg and none of those times she turned on red lights, ever. So this came as such a surprise, more like a shocking comment. And also, due to our ethnic background, this is also a form of discrimination and an intention to fail my daughter based solely on prejudice. The last times she failed, I just took the words from the instructors because there was the dashcam in the car and I could just rewatch the clips to verify their comments. This time, I can't and I will NOT take it. This is a very shady thing to do. Avoid this place for driving test...

Read moreIf I had the connections to shut this place down I would. This has to be the worst place I've ever been to with poor customer service skills, and I should know since I work in customer service. If your own employee doesn't even know what she's talking about, that's a problem. Wait times are ridiculous, what's the point of even having an appointment when you schedule 5 other people for the same time for a toad test. Ended up taking my test 45 minutes later. They can obviously schedule more people. But that still wouldn't help since a majority of them are rude and have an attitude that they only want to get you out of there. If you hate your job that much, quit. Driving instructor clearly doesn't know how to drive if he's making up ridiculous laws just to fail you. MVA call center told me someone would call me back (can't even reach someone directly, it's ridiculous) but it's been over a month (not that I still care) and haven't received a call. To make my life easier I just took the 45 minute drive to the Hagerstown location and passed my test with no problems whatsoever, the wait time was 5 minutes, and the staff was super nice. Long story short, don't bother coming here for anything, go to the hagerstown or Frederick location.
UPDATE
MVA overall is a sh!¥ show. You may as well disconnect your numbers because every time I call to speak with a representative, I’m on hold for over 20 minutes and then the line DISCONNECTS. I don’t know if it’s because your representatives are intentionally HANGING UP the calls or your wait system is just subpar. Either way, it’s ridiculous this is what our tax money is paying for, on top of the frivolous fees you mysteriously come up with. Strange how you’re told you have no administrative fees but when you go to renew there magically is at least one. Good thing I’m thorough and hold on to all my paperwork and document everything. Perhaps a class action lawsuit will quickly resolve the state’s...
