We have visited Parrot Cove for the past year with a family year membership and it's time for a review. Our experience started off mediocre, because we were visiting on the weekends towards the end of the day. Bad idea, as we time went on we realized out of towners come on the weekend and towards the end of the day the place is not the cleanest. People don't pick up after themselves so they will leave napkins and drinks around the kiddie pool and their bratty kids knock them over making a mess. The temperature of the pools is a hit or miss depending on the amount of people of day of the week you visit. for the most part once you get in the temperature is pleasant. The cleanliness of the pools, reflected on the wall at water level improved, but there were times when the dirty grime was gross and had me wanting to break out with my scrubber. The last time we went it was much better and it had been recently cleaned apparently because no grim was noted. The slides are very fun for the kids and adults. The small children areas are great, my daughter enjoys them very much. The staff is great for the most part, except that t/o the year we did notice that most of the best employees would come and go, which is an indication of underpaying jobs. It was too bad, because it was like a revolving door of new faces and the employees we came to enjoy, because of their superior service always moved on to bigger and better things. Which caused us to always be stuck having a new young lady or man checking us in and asking why the names on our cares were faded and unreadable, we explained it faded with the pool water. We explained countless times, got tired and wrote the names ourselves with a permanent marker only to have them question the validity of the cards afterwards. Even thought they can confirm on the computer. Anyways overall it is a fun place to go and spend a day with the kids. They do have a snack bar with the usual snack food such as pizza, sodas, popcorn and such. Lockers rooms are also available although at closing they are clearly not big enough to accommodate the number of people allowed to enter the water park, or perhaps the women's is not big enough and the men's is wasted space since most of the time the moms get stuck taking the kids to the pool and then locker rooms to shower and change. Chairs are available at poolside and come in handy when looking for a place to watch kids from and place towels on . Recommendation would be to visit as early as possible to avoid too many people, try before buying any membership to see if you like it and be nice to the staff, they don't get...
Read moreWe have been her multiple times when in the area. The first time we went there was a sign on the door that no bags are allowed. When we got in there was bags EVERYWHERE! And we didn't know we had to bring our own towels. So the next time we came i brought a bag with all my towels in it along with allergy meds (I have a severe corn allergy). We have been here dozens of times and never had an issue. I saw on FB that they had a valentines day special on Feb 15th. When we got there we were disappointed that the slides were closed and we were not informed prior to paying to get in. I checked their website and Facebook when I got home and it never said on either sites that the slides were closed. The slides are the only reason my husband and I wanted to go. Went a few more times since then. Today March 15th I brought my son and his 2 friends for his birthday i was not allowed to bring my purse inside. I asked if I could put it in a locker, and I was told no, I had to put it in my car. So now my allergy meds are out in my car in my purse. I walk past the gate and there is bags everywhere! I took pics and went back to show the 2 employees that told me I am not allowed to bring my bag in. They kept telling me lies as to why those people are able to have their bags. All of what they told me would have meant that my bag is allowed to come in. I even pulled up the sight I bought my bag from and showed them the measurements and I still was not allowed. Whatever. I was watching the kids swim as more people where coming in, and they all had bags with them. I don't know why the employees singled me out. But if they have a strict no bag policy it should be that way for...
Read moreI am local and this was my first experience at Parrot Cove.
I can't justify paying their normal prices, so I was happy to see discounted pricing for the summer. We took advantage of the discount, although they still expect a "non swimming guest" to pay full price. (Which is not mentioned on any of their advertising)
My kids are young (oldest is 5), and I thought the lifeguards found it entertaining to blow the whistle at my kids. I understand the need for safety, but it was a bit over the top. My 5 year old (she could touch the bottom and was wearing a puddle jumper!) got in trouble for just being in the water while I was helping my 3 year old across the floating lily pads.
The concession stand does not take cash. I was told to go out to the front desk to put $8 on my wrist band for a $7.35 purchase. I asked what happens to the change left, they said "If you dont use it, you lose it". I decided to swim back over and get my debit card, but since they have no pin keypad they have you sign the receipt with your wet hands...seems like there could be an easier way that won't screw you out of extra money, ever heard of cash? Prices were a bit high for small snacks. Despite this, the concession staff was nice. (Earns 1 Star)
The layout of the waterpark was cramped and smaller than I expected.
The nice bit was that it is indoors, so you don't have to lather on the sunscreen. (Earns 1 Star)
I don't plan on having a 2nd visit to Parrot Cove.
I would recommend putting on a bit of sunscreen, and go to another local waterpark. (that will let you bring your own cooler with...
