Me and my family used to love OC. When they first came to Garden we loved going there. However recently we stopped going as often because of covid, so tonight was our first night there after a while. To begin, when we got there the lady took our order and everything was going as planned. We ordered 4 meals, an appetizer with around 3$ off and 2 beers for 1$ off each. It took them around an hour to get our food out, and a table that had gotten in after us got food before us. We didn't receive our appetizer in that time either, it came after our food, and it was cold. They had also changed the garlic bread that came with it, and it seemed to only have a little smear of butter on it, nowhere near what they used to have. Our food was underwhelming, the mac and cheese we ordered was extremely dry and the spaghetti that I got had hardly any noodles in it. As we were waiting for these meals as well, she said that they were plated and would be out shortly. About 20 minutes later she comes out again and says it was the meatballs that were taking so long in the meal. There were 2 meatballs with it, each that, with this being a restaurant franchise, were probably pre-cooked and were easy to warm up. When we got the tab, we recieved nothing off as we should have because we ordered before 6. The waitress changed the appetizer amount but said that she was mistaken and the dollar off of the beer was only for domestics, despite the advertisement on the sign saying nothing about that. All it said was a dollar off pints. Overall, recently, for the price of the food and the service that we have recieved, I just don't think that it is worth it. I...
Read moreGiven that I’ve worked in the service industry for years, and still do, was very disappointed with how the bar service was. I don’t come here very often, but I wanted to try something new so I decided to come to Old Chicago. Sat at the bar because normally that’s where you’d get the best service right? Takes a special personality to work the bar. Apparently that was proven wrong when I sat and ate here tonight. Anna was extremely inattentive, and never really “served” me much, let alone interacted as she did with the others which I assume are her regulars. It wasn’t that busy either, everyone had their drink and were talking and I’m just here trying to engage with everyone at the bar, including the bartender.
Had a good conversation with some gentlemen nearby while Anna is ignoring majority of the bar and not paying attention to when food is coming out, or when drinks need refilled. People were sitting there for a WHILE with an empty tall glass of beer, which was never asked by Anna to be refilled maybe a few times. Once you see a beer get to a certain threshold, maybe ask? A good quick few seconds of “Hey sir/ma’am would you want another beer here in a few or something else?” Would save the customer from having to sit there and necessarily having to ask for another beer.
All around, definitely won’t be coming back again if Anna is there. Attitude was certainly not what meets to standards of a bartender. Buffalo Wild Wings is right down the street, and ALWAYS offers a consistent stream of service...
Read moreI’ve eaten at this location five times and have been underwhelmed every time. Typically, they’re out of at least one of the beverages I want to try. On the food side, I’ve tried the pizzas and the crusts are greasily disgusting. Apparently thin crust means something different out here? I figured maybe they just stink at pizza so tried a calzone; what an inconsistent beast. All of the innards were stuffed into one area with nothing but breading elsewhere, which was crusty in some areas and uncooked in others. So, I figured maybe calzone is too close to pizza, which they aren’t good at. So, I tried their chicken finger excuse for chicken fried chicken which wasn’t even served as the grossly sticky menu indicated. Speaking of service, you wait excessively at every step in this place - at the front desk to be seated, at the table to be served, for drinks and food, for the bill, for your receipt. Typically, there’s a pile of employees standing around chatting instead of providing service to the customers. With so few options in this city, I’ll likely have to return. Perhaps I’ll have a mediocre...
