This comment is NOT directed at the good standing people I worked with at this store. This comment is directed at the ones who ran me over for everything that I did right. To let folks know- a long time ago, before I had to move out of the area because Garfield became a bad neighborhood, I worked at this store and was given a supervisor position with no power to hire or fire anyone and my department was the lowest paid in the company. There were a lot of my co-workers and managers- some who were part of the problem. At the time I left this area- the Garfield Heights PD was being called practically every day because of problems with theft. Also- my front end manager before she left for another job- should have been fired for her poor demeanor and attitude towards myself and others- but was allowed to leave on her own terms. My former store manager- was a real piece of work and I gave him one too many chances to make things right with me. He never did and instead- when I brought a cart back to the store from my street where I used to live- on my day off- I was laughed at by him and her. To the point of where other customers could see the poor behavior that they were exhibiting towards me and were shocked to see me being treated this way. Corporate did nothing to relieve these two of their positions and because of my treatment and it being a toxic work place- I left, never to return. There are many more situations that I will not get into- but I found out that one of my co-worker friends suffered a heart attack after I left after not enough rest of being overworked and Dave's had to pay his medical bills. I won't reveal his name or anything else- but Dave's is a toxic workplace. My managers- the ones I referenced in my situation- didn't help matters and led to me resigning. There were also situations with customers harassing me and my co-workers and one of the customers that harassed me and my staff continually was a friend of my front end manager who was the problem. The only thing I know about her is that she drives an expensive car and her harassment of me and my staff put me to the breaking point. My store manager did nothing to stop it- as a matter of fact he didn't even want to deal with it. And he should have. I want to end this post by saying this- and I apologize for how long this post is. My advice- if you are currently working at this location and there is a better job for you- GET OUT OF THIS TOXIC WORKPLACE! If you're working here long enough- you'll understand that not a lot of people will have your back and are backstabbers- in it for themselves. Everyone that I worked with here that were the problem- corporate didn't fire and they should have. One regret that I have is that this company stole away so much time and things I wanted to do with my life that are now long gone and I can never get back. I am glad to be out of this store and area for the past several years and I'm not going back. If you are a worker here and you were like me- treated everyone with respect and decency and you got run over like me- GET OUT OF THIS PLACE! It will be better for your health! And to those of you that were the problem- I gave you chance after chance to make it right- SHAME ON YOU! You should know better and should have been taught better and you acted this way anyway. I hope for your sake- that you don't go through what I did- otherwise- you'll know exactly how I feel- and if you ever do- then you'll get the rude awakening call that I wish you would've when I worked with you and gave you decency and respect. And...

The store was named for Alex's son, Dave who succeeded his father in the business.
Following in Dave's footstep was his son Burton who recognized that the store needed to address the growing needs of their customers. Over the years, Burton along with his two sons, Dan and Steve Saltzman, have expanded upon the company's original vision and continue to grow the chain. Dave's is the only retail food store to invest significantly in Cleveland in recent years. New and exciting developments at Dave's included the acquisition of four new locations in 2007 as well as the launch of Dave's Mercado at the Ridge Road location. The Mercado provides the largest selection of hispanic foods in the Cleveland area. The Saltzman Family is proud to have stores serving 12 local...

Some years ago I had a hot dog stand and I would go to the old Payne Ave location to get Polish sausage. It didn't matter what time I came in the morning, I knew I could count on seeing that one person that never misses work, and it was none other than Burt, the owner!
There is no quit in this guy. He's answering phones, working the register for checkout, or just handling the day to day. For anybody striving to be an entrepreneur, this guy is the blueprint, and thats why I love coming here.
Decided to go with a new dish which was veggie lasagna. I used spinach, cauliflower rice, and spinach as my noodle base. Green peppers, onions, mushrooms, diced tomato, and meatless veggie crumbles. Definitely satisfied my lasagna craving, but without the feeling stuffed feel to it. Spent like $15, and...
