If I could give them a zero star rating I would. My issue with this location is they donāt seem interested in caring for a 7 month old puppy with some personality and energy .
Iāve taking my dog Obi to this location twice and both times Iāve returned to my dog being isolated from the rest and nothing but complaining from the receptionist. When I asked what the issues are I get āyour dog has a lot of energyā, āhe had the zoomies in the room with the other dogsā, āis your dog trained?ā. Not once did they say he was being aggressive to the staff or other dogs. Apparently how it works there if my dog has energy and upsets another dog that isnāt interested in playing. That dog can show aggression and stay in the room while my dog gets locked away on his own.
Also I was told on both occasions of using the service when I should be bringing him in to use the service. I would get ātry an hour on a Saturdayā or ābring him Friday afternoonā... I must be missing something because I didnāt realize I should be dropping my pup off based on the daycareās schedule and not mine. I havenāt been around a ton of 7 month old dogs, but Iām not to sure how many are going to do circus tricks on command when in a new environment around new dogs. Yes my dog is trained, he knows his name and basic commands, but heās a puppy and wants to play. Thatās why Iām bringing him in. Thatās what Iām paying for. Iām certainly not paying for you to lock him up and isolate him from other dogs. I can do that at home for free.
After realizing this place was horrible for Obi Iāve been using Depaw University and havenāt heard one negative thing. Makes me wonder if he changed overnight into some sort of super dog or the staff at Depaw is just that much better at doing their jobs. If your dog is lethargic and just lays in a corner Iām sure theyāll be fine at āDogtopiaā, but if your dog likes to play and has some energy, shop around and avoid this place... the grass was greener on the other side for Obi and me and possibly for you and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I have a vizsla puppy and we took her here multiple times. Each time we noticed that she returned home energetic, unlike other daycares we have brought her to, but we wanted to keep giving it a try because of its proximity to our home.
I noticed from watching the cameras that every time she got excited or hyper she got put into a crate, for a ātime-outā. Vizslas are a very high energy breed and ours is only 7 months old.
Last week we took our puppy to daycare. That afternoon my wife picked her up and expressed concern to the staff that her face looked very swollen. The staff told her that she didnāt know what happened and that she didnāt get into anything during the day.
My wife was on the way to our vet to have our female vizsla looked at because we were concerned something was very wrong. On the way there, my wife noticed that she had a male vizsla in our car! They gave us the wrong dog! My wife turned the car around and called them and they just said āoops we must have given you the other vizslaā. This other dog even had our dogās collar on.
The owner called me and said she was sorry and she was going to meet with the staff to discuss their āprocedures to prevent thisā. Thatās the last we heard from them and the last time weāve been there. The liability of this situation is so dangerous. If the dog would have bit my wife or if they had gotten into an accident this situation could have been a lot worse. We are absolutely appalled by the carelessness this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been bringing my dog, Leo, to Dogtopia Geneva for daycare for over a year and cannot imagine bringing him anywhere else.
The facility is clean with both indoor and outdoor play areas. Leo absolutely loves it. I have no doubt he is treated well because of (a) the way he greets all staff members with excitement and (b) the facilityās transparency with cameras inside the play rooms so you can check on your pup from the app. Leo had severe separation anxiety as a puppy and bringing him to Dogtopia to was crucial in helping us overcome that obstacle while also maintaining his socialization.
At my local dog park (NOT Dogtopia), Leo was attacked by another dog and required emergency care. Once he healed, I was terrified to let him near other dogs again but knew itās what I had to do. I called Dogtopia and they were compassionate as we talked through the situation. They helped me plan the best time to bring Leo back and the safest way to do so. I was confident in their staff and Iām thankful for their knowledge and care because Leo transitioned back to daycare seamlessly.
Any negative review from an owner whose dog is not allowed at the facility only exemplifies Dogtopiaās awareness and commitment to safety.
Dogtopia exceeded my expectations from the start. Every time I pick Leo up after daycare, he falls asleep on the way home. Not only is he exhausted that night, but almost always the following day as well. Truly impressive to see with a young,...
