My family had been looking forward to celebrating my son's 17th birthday at JuRin in Geneva, IL. However, our experience with the restaurant left us thoroughly disappointed and frustrated.
We made a reservation for 11 people a week in advance, specifically mentioning that it was for a birthday celebration and confirming our preference to be seated together at one table. Upon arrival at JuRin, we were made to wait for about 10 minutes before being led to a table that was clearly insufficient for our group size. Despite our reservation and prior confirmation, the host attempted to seat us at a table meant for 8 people at most.
When my husband raised concerns about the cramped seating arrangement, the host simply reiterated that we had confirmed our preference for one table over the phone. However, the lack of clarity during the reservation process led to a misunderstanding, as we did not expect to be squeezed into a table clearly inadequate for our group.
Despite our protests and the obvious discomfort that would arise from such a setup, the host showed no flexibility or willingness to accommodate our party with a larger table. Disheartened by the lack of consideration and customer service, we made the decision to leave the restaurant.
As a result of this disappointing experience, we have no intention of returning to JuRin. It's unfortunate that what was meant to be a joyous celebration turned into a frustrating ordeal due to the restaurant's mishandling of our reservation and seating arrangements. We would caution others to clarify seating arrangements thoroughly when making reservations at JuRin to avoid similar disappointments.
Overall, our experience at JuRin was marred by poor communication, inflexibility, and a lack of customer-centric service. We will be seeking alternative venues for future...
Read moreMade a reservation for my birthday for 5 at 6pm. Got there at 550. Stood there for 15 mins before anyone even acknowledged we were there. Took another 20 mins to be seated. I guess they don't think covid is a thing bc they crammed us at a grill with another family of 4. Sitting right on top of each other. I'd figured if they sat us with others there'd be at least a seat between the two parties, nope. The cook barely spoke English and hardly engaged with us at all. The whole point of a hibachi experience is the show, there was no show. I could have stayed home and had my son cook for me on the grill and had more engaging fun experience. I ordered filet mignon (medium rare) and shrimp with side of scallops. It definitely was not filet mignon the meat was so chewy and it definitely wasn't cooked medium rare. They gave my scallops to the other family even tho I said clearly 3 times it was mine, noone else at the table had ordered scallops. They didn't refill drinks the whole meal. Everything was so salty too! Do you think they offered to remove anything or a gift certificate or anything for it being such a horrible experience and ruining my birthday meal? Nope. If I could give zero stars I would. Don't go to this place if you're looking for good food and good show bc they don't...
Read moreI came for lunch today. I was excited to try a new sushi location and it had good reviews. I went with the sushi & sashimi lunch special ($16) with a side of edamame ($4).
The servings were surprisingly small. I know roll size can vary from location to location, but this was clearly a money saving move on the part of the chef's and/or management. What I did get tasted fine, nothing to write home about, but I left hungry.
I saw my waiter twice; when he took my order and when he gave me the check. What makes this an issue is that I never received the edamame. I couldn't ask him because I never saw him. I always take occupancy into consideration with issues like this, but I was one of 4 people in the entire place.
He brought me my check and I asked him to remove the edamame. He made a face and asked if it was not to my liking? I told him I didn't know because it never came. He didn't apologize. He didn't try to make it right. He said, "Oh" and then removed it from my bill.
For the amount of staff present (twice the number of diners), I'd have expected amazing service. I was wrong.
In conclusion, save your money and try someplace else. At least until they get their act together. That or don't ever go here for lunch. Maybe I interrupted new...
