As a firefighter I was so excited to see this place! But when we arrived I was very confused about what was going on. There were kids in red shirts everywhere, probably at least 15. I counted 10 at one time, standing outside on their phones. I thought they were employees, but none made eye contact, or asked us if we would like to be seated. We finally were seated and did the souvenir tasting. The waitress just put it on the table and walked away. No explanation about the wines, no pride in the product. It took us a couple of minutes to figure out the paper on the tray had the wine names. At one point the table behind us left. None of the kids came to clean it. Our waitress finally took a few things back with her once when she took another tables order. We sat for nearly an hour before the other kids in red shirts finally were told to bus the table. If all of them were being paid, they were just purging money. It was frustrating watching them all just stand around on their phones, while one poor girl worked away. I also wanted to buy a shirt. There were several of the red t-shirt kids standing in the room with merchandise, but no one asked if I was needing help. And the merchandise area was a mess with stuff piled around. Keys and drinks and bags everywhere. They just totally avoided making eye contact. I didn't get a shirt, because it seemed like it was an inconvenience to the employees.

We stopped in at the Old Firehouse Winery for dinner after a day of walking all over the area. It took a little time to be seated, but that was mainly because we were waiting for a table in the sun since it was a chilly evening. The menu said full bar service, but I asked for a Long Island Iced Tea and was told they didn't have that. I had to walk over to the Sunset Bar (a pavilion about 100 feet away) to get one and bring it back to my table, only to find that our server had brought me a regular tea... that was odd. The food we had was fantastic. My wife and I both had burgers and they were very good. The fries were also really good. My wife had the wine slushie and loved it. At one point she asked our server for some malt vinegar, and he said they only had regular vinegar, then brought us malt vinegar. Again, kind of odd. Ultimately though our experience was good, the service was decent, and the food was outstanding.

We came to Geneva-on-the-Lake for the 4th of July. We had dinner at the Old Firehouse Winery around 5:00 PM. My only complaint, which I still rate our experience as 5 stars, is that our waiter had a hard time understanding us. English was obviously his second language. Pricing was very reasonable for a tourist type of location. Set aside the slight language barrier, the service was great. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was exceptional. The facility and surrounding area was clean and kept up very well. We were seated in the gazebo and they had a musician playing the entire time. He was exceptional at his craft and it was not loud or overbearing. I ordered the St Louis Ribs with fries and a salad. The ribs were tender, falling off the bone. Delicious, to say the least. The salad and fries were very good as well. I highly recommend The Old Firehouse Winery. We will definitely be back.

To write this review pains me! I love this place, but last night was my last night there. We got there around 6:50 PM and were sat by 7. After that, however, it went steadily downhill. Every time we have been there, we have always had to wait what seems like an eternity to see a server. Last night we waited for 35 minutes! I went to the "hostess" twice( and my husband went once as well) to remind her we were and to get some menus. Finally they sent a server over who took our drink order. Once she took our drink order, we didn't see her again. I finally flagged her down and asked if she was actually going to bring us our drinks or did she just want to know what we were drinking. I did this in a joking manner as it was her third day and felt she wasn't the one to blame in this mess. I looked for a mgr to speak to, but not one in sight. There was no leadership for these kids who were trying their very best to do what they had to do. She told us the bartender was backed up. We ordered WATER, POP AND LEMONADE! I asked about the wine slushie, but she explained that they just got the grape juice to start making it and she wasn't sure what flavors they had. We just skipped the slushie altogether. We FINALLY got our drinks 45 minutes later!! At that time the server took our order. We waited around 40 more minutes for our food! We ordered two chicken wraps and two chicken sandwiches. The bun on the sandwich my husband had was literally wet on the bottom and soggy! I asked the server for another bun. My husband said don't bother. He figured it would take too long to get it. I told her to forget it then. A little while later, somewhere around 10 minutes, our "drink" server shows up with another bun. He literally had two bites left of his sandwich. He gladly took it though to try and salvage anything he could of his chicken sandwich. Our poor server was so overwhelmed. These young kids are just trying to make some money for the summer. We by now means took it out on her. She apologized more than once. My husband told her this was not the first time this has happened to us there. But certainly the WORST time we have had there, as far as service is concerned. But the views at sunset r stunning and that is why we love going there. After all was said and done, our bill was $78! A bit pricey for chicken sandwiches, wraps and fries. The management and owners really need to get a better handle on things. It truly is sad we had this experience! We really do love the place and drive an hour and a half, several times a summer just to go there. PLEASE FIX THINGS! I REALLY WANT TO...

We spent the day today(9/25/16) at Adventure Zone and drove around on a golf cart...it was our first time in the area. We had three children with us(ages 2, 5, and 9). When we were leaving, one of the boys suggested we go to the place with the band outside by the lake for dinner. We had noticed that it said kid friendly menu so we agreed. When we arrived, roughly around 6:55pm, the bus boy was our only encounter with a staff member bc I approached him. I asked him about getting a highchair and he was very friendly and brought it to our table and we asked specifically if it mattered where we sat. He said no so we chose a place near one of the fire lanterns. We had to find a menu on another table, which wasn't a big deal, which we did after sitting for five minutes. We watched the band for a while and they were great. After about 10 more minutes, the bus boy was in the area and I inquired about a kids' menu. He said they didn't have one but told us about the two options for kids. Again, very friendly. We waited another 15 minutes and still no one greeted us at our table. Meanwhile, the table next to us had been cleared and sat again and a waitress was right there within a few minutes. Perhaps we were sitting in the wrong place at the wrong time. After 35 minutes total, we left. We had over an hour drive home, hungry kids, and kids that are well behaved, but can't be expected to sit that long of a time without even taking our orders. It is a very cute place. Nice, cozy atmosphere, good live music, but no idea if the food is any good or not bc we never got to find out. I have never taken the time to write a negative review for any place, but I thought that this was warranted. As we were looking around, there were several waitresses standing near the building, but none even glanced our way. I'm not sure what the hold up was. It was hard for me to rate it one star, but that was my only option in order to write a review. When I got home, I looked up reviews online. Sadly, it sounds as the slowness is a common practice. Maybe in the future we'll try it out again when we have plenty of time set aside and aren't super hungry when...

Horrible experience here. The staff was so rude as soon as we were seated. Finally after 10-15 minutes we had a server assigned to our table from another section. We were all ready with drink and food order. No special orders just one person didn't want bacon on her sandwich. One person in our party was brought there food then 15 min later the other five orders came out. Still missing one order after awhile I walked down to ask for the manager because our waitress just kept making excuses like the service was normal....in between that time she never brought refills either. When the staff finally found the manager I tried to explain to him what was going on but instantly he was on the defense. I told him where we were seated instead of coming to the table he badgered me with questions like "they all have name tags, you don't known her name?" -"well is she black or is she white?" and finally " what would you like me to do comp your meal or something?". Keep in mind he was doing this in front of the whole restaurant while the staff laughed and rolled their eyes. I figured I was talking to a wall so went back to my table and told him when he had a solution to come see us. All the food was there finally. Then 10 -15 min later no sign of waitress or manager I walk down to get out bill and leave when again run into the manager and just calmly asked for our bills so we could leave BUT the waitress felt the need to call us B**es! Skip to us walking out the manager did not make us pay which is not what I was ever looking for and apparently fired the waitress who then chased half of my party into the parking lot yelling and had to be taken back inside. I really hope the owners read these comments because in all my years of working at restaurants NEVER have I whiteness such a disaster. From management to front counter this place needs some serious help. From reading the other reviews it seems owners must not take the business very seriously if this is still happening. I will make sure to tell everyone I know how horrible...
