Oceanside Seafood Inc — Attraction in Genoa Charter Township

Recently heard about their mobile seafood market. Yesterday I drove 20 minutes to Mecosta, waited an hour without the truck ever showing up. Called the store in Howell multiple times while waiting. They confirmed the truck was on their way and probably running late due to weather. Finally gave up and left (along with a dozen or so other vehicles throughout that time) after an hour. Called the store once I was home and they said there was a “scheduling mix up” and they won’t be back in Mecosta until next month. I understand mistakes happen, but this date and time (1/14/25 12-2pm) were on their website for over a month and Facebook page for over a week prior. I made plans specifically to go make a purchase from them and took time off work to be available during this time. I’m very disappointed and won’t be attempting a purchase from them again. I can’t trust that the dates and times for the locations of their mobile seafood truck are...

Well, today's visit was the final straw. We have been loyal customers of this establishment for the last 3yrs. It has been a struggle the last 6-10 months. It's clear that staff no longer understands seafood and their product. Today I arrived at 445 to pickup a few items for dinner. Everything was already put away. You could not see any product in the cases etc. I asked for 1 pd of salmon cut into 3 equal pieces. Clearly the staff struggled. Also got 6 oysters, one of which was opened when I got home and I pulled it apart with my hands. See photos of quality and treatment, at least give your staff sharp knives to work with. Also, two other customers came in to make purchase in the last 15 min of open hours. It's hard on staff and customers to pick out seafood when you can't...

Stopped in today with a friend to pick up something special. John took the time to tell us about the different cuts of fresh fish that had recently arrived in the store. I had the intention of making shrimp scampi but was unsure of which species to purchase. John described the different species in the store and made a few recommendations. The meal turned out delicious with the golf shrimp and spinach linguini which we purchased in store.
