Everything I really heard about this card shop unfortunately for my experience was not as I was expecting. They do have some type of Detailed online card catalog system that they insist you use instead of browsing through singles for example for Yu-Gi-Oh. I did have one gentleman of the four people who are staffed today on 8/11/21 Assist me and seemed helpful but when I approach the counter and had basic questions the response I got from one of the other three of Employees seemed rather condescending.
I did ask if It was OK that I browse what they did have underneath the glass by the counter where the three employees stood, First gentleman saying it was perfectly fine. When I approach the counter within seconds of walking I was asked if I needed help finding anything and I had said I was only working and they again and insisted that I check in the computer for what they had.
I did let the gentleman know at the counter unfortunately I do not see anything I wanted and saying to him for his help. When I was leaving one of the employees behind the counter asked if I needed help finding something and I told them no and to have a nice day which I got no response to know not that I was expecting one.
One of the reasons why I first came here was because of the great reviews online that were given to the card shop Especially since the shop itself is Difficult to fine and not in a very savory neighborhood (inner Mesa, AZ).
Other than my experience with the one individual employee that was positive there overwhelming feeling walking into the establishment was negative. As a whole they do not seem helpful or friendly in any sense of the word And seeing more worried about me browsing through an online catalog that having any type of basic conversation or even a simple hello.
I typically buy all of my stuff online because itās usually cheaper typically on eBay or online card shops however I was attempting to support my local card shop by walking in and browsing.
By no means is this a condemnation of the store however my experience at 3 PM today was nothing short of awkward let alone unfriendly.
Itās nice to have a local card shop where you can sit down and play with other people all my cards but at least from my experience half of the store is how they treat you when you walk in and how helpful they are.
And in my case it was not anything where I felt like I would be welcome coming back. Sad considering that I had to drive almost 45 minutes away to check out this place from where I live just to have a disappointing experience. I would hope somebody else has better especially considering the reviews that they are have been given they seem to be a slight...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWalking in I was so excited to check this place out as we heard good things and my family and I are big into Pokemon so we drove all the way from San Tan valley to be there. At first glance, it was indeed clean, and extremely well organized. Lots of cards, and accessories and lots of room to sit and play. But from the man who greeted us, I was most certainly not impressed....my family and I were greeted right away from a man stranding right at the register which from the sound of his voice and by his choice of words "welcome in, (speaks softer to the rest of the employees) with your dog....." Made us feel so incredibly unwelcome and quiet Frankly uncomfortable to be there with our registered by the state of AZ service puppy. Now he does forget he's at work sometimes, he's an attention junky who thinks everyone wants to pet him and he seemed a little wild with all the new people but he settled very quickly and didn't make noise, jump on anyone, or so much as make a peep while inside the store . He was well behaved to say the least and for the first 5 mins of being there the employees especially the younger female seemed disgusted/annoyed with the fact that we brought our dog along with us. After all that awkwardness, my boys and I were looking at some of the cards on display and a very nice, very helpful and very knowledgeable young man came up and asked us if we had any questions and of course my boys asked about 10 different card prices each and he was very patient and looked up all of them as well as told them a few things surrounding their cards of choice. This kind employee made all the difference in our view of this store, he made us laugh and feel just fine being there, I wish I remembered his name because he deserves recognition and I will for sure be going back because of him and I'll update this review when I do find out his name. We bought some trainer boxes and a few card singles (which they have such an impressive way to look threw what they had in stock down to how many of them they had in via computers on the far wall, very user friendly as well). Checking out that younger woman who seemed annoyed/disgusted that we were there with our dog had a completely different attitude checking us out it was nice to have a great turn around after all. Will be back 100%...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām torn writing this review. Iām a regular at amazing I enjoy buying comics and selling them cards. I usually go in the afternoons during the week day right after they open for a quick stop. The staff is great and I get in and out pretty quick. Today 10/19 Sunday evening I go in. Itās not any busier than usual groups of people playing magic I believe but no other customers are coming up to the counter. There is a gentleman in front of me seeing a decent amount of PokĆ©mon so I stand behind them as I wait my turn. I understand and get that there is one person at the buying counter. I have my kids with me and let them walk throughout the store as I was excited to show them the place I love to go to for comics and TCG. Like a good Dad I step out of line(nobody is behind me in line) to go check on my kids. Iām still patiently waiting I see people leaving from the tables as it gets less busy. There were two other gentlemen working one with long hair and glasses. A second one with buzz cut and glasses he was pretty much on the phone the whole time unless someone came up to him directly. They have both looked at me and not offered to help. I didnāt think much of it because I know one person works the buy counter. Now Iāve been in the store close to 40 minutes patiently waiting for my turn. Now another customer comes is and now the other 2 gentleman are more eager to help. They offer to take the other gentleman to other side of the counter to take care of him right away. Iām in shock cause Iāve been patiently waiting in line for close to 40 minutes waiting. No one else had bothered to help me, they looked at me but didnāt bother. Guess what the difference was between me and the customer that walked right in? Skin color and I really donāt like to throw that out there but i donāt know how it can be seen any other way Iām really disappointed and hurt because I know good people that work there. I just donāt know how to feel about going...
