I recently dined at a Greek restaurant that had a lot of potential, and overall, it was a solid experience. The place is good for what it is, catering to those looking for a casual meal with a Mediterranean flair.
I ordered the chicken platter, which was visually pleasing and nicely presented. The chicken was flavorful and well-cooked, and the rice complemented it perfectly—definitely a highlight of the meal. The hummus in the platter was also good, adding a nice creamy texture that rounded out the dish. However, I was a bit disappointed with the tzatziki sauce. For a place that advertises it prominently, it didn’t quite meet expectations, earning a 2 out of 5 from me.
When it comes to the rest of the platter, I’d rate it 4 out of 5—very good overall. The French fries were another notable mention; they were served beautifully with a nice sprinkle of spices. However, they were a bit too salty for my taste, so I feel comfortable giving them a rating of 3 to 4 out of 5.
As for the lemonade, it fell flat for me. It didn’t stand out at all and wasn’t particularly enjoyable, so I’d rate it around 2 out of 5, which feels generous considering my experience.
On a positive note, the staff was respectful and attentive, which always enhances a dining experience. Overall, I’d recommend this place for the good food and service, but there are definitely areas that could use...
Read moreThe food is as average as a Mediterranean food can get in the USA where most people have no clue what Mediterranean food actually is and so, I'm not surprised by the high rating. Although, I must admit they do a good job with the hamus and the baba ganoush and that's not common. So I guess they win more points for that. The chicken kabab was not bad and the gyro meat was just ok. The felafel was underwhelming and probably should be consumed as soon as it's prepared so a terrible idea for takeout. I guess the same should be said about the gyro meat. The service is fast but quality is as mediocre as a fast food joint and they couldn't even adhere to the simplest request of swapping the sides with the garlic one. If you know how important Toum is for this cuisine, then you know why anyone would be upset about their order. First impressions do last, but I hope it's...
Read moreWhat’s happened to you guys with the the neglectful service & food shrinkage?! After I’d bragged about PJ and invited a friend (Arab - she knows her cuisine!), I ended up eating my words about how good your food was. So I’d invited a friend to meet me at the Ahwatukee loc. We sat for a good while before a waitress took our beverage order and to bring them. We ordered a side (portion shrunk from a previous visit - we were sharing, as portions use to be “normal”!). We ordered falafel sandwiches. That too took awhile, only for it to be cold and embarrassing small! Didn’t even get the usual condiments on it! Being that my friend is middle eastern, I was humiliated - she knows all about her cuisine and how generous portions are, which Pita Jungle USE to have. I won’t be back: the food was lacking and service was too. Thus, my reason for rhis...
