HERBAL NAILS & SPA at Gilbert — Attraction in Gilbert

I absolutely had to leave a review because this nail salon is amazing! I don’t live out in this area, but I had a hard day and decided to treat myself, so I came up on it. I called to ensure that they allowed walk-in appointments, especially because it was New Year’s Eve, and the manager who answered the phone was so kind! He said he could get me in as soon as I got there. I started my service with a pedicure. I did not get the name of the gal who did my toes, but she was so kind and asked multiple questions to ensure I was getting the type of pedicure I wanted. When I declined gel polish on my toes, she was not pushy or did not make me feel bad, she said “ok” and moved on with the service. The color that I had chosen, they were out of, so she brought me over multiple bottles of colors she felt were similar and was patient as I tried to make a new decision. The pedicure was amazing and she was very gentle! Next, I got a gel manicure, and noticed while I was looking at the colors that they had stands with very unique designs. I asked a question to one of the techs walking by and she was happy to sit there and answer all my questions and explain each of the different styles they offered. I ended up choosing the cat eye polish which they do by painting the nail, and then using a magnet to do the design. My nail tech’s name was Moon, and I absolutely adored her! She made sure after everything, like filing and prep, that I was satisfied with how the nails looked before moving on to polishing them. While she did the design, she let me watch as it was so fascinating to see the magnet pull such a cool design on the nail. She was super awesome about explaining to me how it worked, and even the manager came over and was telling me about all the cool gel polish options they now have. I just had a really wonderful experience at the salon, from the manager being so kind and present to both the techs being sure that I was completely satisfied with my services. I never felt rushed or like I was being too picky (I’m a huge perfectionist so I can be annoying). While there are dozens of nail salons closer to my house, I will definitely be going back to see Moon!

My experience is from a year ago. Finally sharing now because I felt so embarrassed and cheated. I got a a gel pedicure and had to have some tips put on as my nails were growing back from damage. I told them I wanted a simple gel pedicure I didn’t need any of the extras. The lady at the salon clearly understood nothing that I said as she proceeded to do all the extra $$$ pampering things when I explicitly told them which package I wanted which didn’t mention any extras but it was my first time visiting this salon and I thought that this may just be standard with all pedicures (scrub, massage, etc) I got a pink gel with some (very little) nail art. I tried to continue to communicate with her but she just left and another nail tech (a man) who spoke English fluently took over and I no longer had communication issues.

It did look nice but nothing super special. When I got rung up after about an hour of being there (just as the spa was closing) they said $180!! I was FLABBERGASTED! And they still asked for a tip!! I have never been charged more than $80 for a gel pedicure even with nail art in my life! Super shady and I felt so cheated but I paid and knew I would never visit again. Oh! honestly debated if i should write this review, because my experience with herbal nails & spa have always been excellent. but i am a week into having my honeymoon nails and i cannot get them redone because my nails are weak and hurt.

kim the nail tech--not so great. first, i had her remove my nails and that HURT--that shouldn't happen. then she buffed my nails for the new set and that HURT. she then buffed my SKIN right off. my other fingers were RAW. when i mentioned to her that i was BLEEDING, she laughed and was like "from the buffing." yeah, no really. that is a huge infection sanitary issue.

now that my nails are growing out, they look so uneven, and the powder overlapped on to my skin, so it catches on everything. just adds on to the disappointment of the service overall.

it was one of those moments where when she started ripping my skin off, i should have requested a new tech or walked out. just be aware of her, i guess. i should add--she was not deliberately rude, just not the service i wanted or expected.
