Where to start.... My wife and I went to share a meal here. While at the bar (the only seat available) we sat next to a couple. The wife was severely drunk. She had been drinking there for 3 hours come to find out. When she ordered another glass of wine her husband stood up and told her he would wait outside because she had already been over served and he had enough of her "drunk a$$". After the husband left she began complaining to two ladies next to her about her husband being unreasonable, PG version. The entire place was hearing this whole thing. As it got more vulgar I glanced over and one of the other ladies who was even more over served started yelling at me telling me to stay out of their business. I asked her politely if she was talking to me?? I really wasn't sure. She became aggressive and started cussing at me. I gave no response. The 2 ladies got up and went to the bathroom. I was approached by the bartender and asked if I could speak to her privately. As I was talking to her explaining what just transpired the manager joined us. As we were all speaking they came out of the bathroom and the lady that was yelling at me got in my face in front of the manager. I walk away and went back to my wife. He escorted her out of the building. At this point it is an actual scene. She then comes storming back in for her purse and belongings and in the process she starts screaming at the entire staff who were all standing there. She is cussing and pointing fingers at everyone. Then she sees me as I am now recording this whole interaction. She assaults' me and my wife and police are called. She was taken to jail that night and we are still in the process of court at this time. All I had asked was the the owner or senior manager call me to discuss this. Not one call. I have called them twice to reach out and still no call. This has been 2 months. I have the video and I simply wanted to share my experience. Mind you we had only just got a few appetizers and 1 drink each which we never got to even finish. To be fair a typical meal there for 2 people can easily reach 200-300 dollars. I would expect more from ownership. Also STOP OVER SERVING PEOPLE!!! It's not ok. One of the ladies drove off completely hammered. She could have killed somebody. Maybe management will reach out now? Next court date is...
Read moreWe went in for Fathers Day dinner, which surprisingly wasnât as busy as I would have expected. We had a large group of 15 of us, many from out of town that haven't been here before. Samantha was our server and honestly I have never had a server in a âhigher endâ or ânicerâ restaurant that was so rude. We were all extremely polite, besides having to wait for a couple to join our group that were running late, but she was clearly annoyed with us for some reason. When we first arrived we moved around a little to get situated. One of my daughters moved to sit next to her grandpa and Samantha looked at me and said, âIs that where sheâs going to sit nowâ, in a very annoyed tone. After not seeing her for a bit, another server or staff member came up to us and asked how we were doing and if she could get anything out of the way for us. I asked her if she could let our server know that we would like another drink, she asked which drink we would like, and told us sheâd let our server know to put it in. Samantha came back about 5-10 minutes later and i let her know i told The other staff member which drink we ordered and she snapped and said i am your server and you can only order through me and nobody else. I apologized And let her know what we would like. Other guests in my party said she was very short, snappy, and rude to them too. I understand that people can have a bad day, weâre only human, but the continued attitude was insane to me. Our tables tab was close to $1000, when she brought the bill she never mentioned that there was an auto gratuity on it, which is perfectly fine to have on there, but we almost didnât catch it. That was just outright insane to me that it wasnât mentioned to me by the manager when we booked the reservation or by the server when the bill was dropped off. We also noticed that we were taxed on the auto gratuity too, which is wrong. The food was great, but the next time we all go somewhere to celebrate a special occasion Iâll be sure to skip High Tide just because of the...
Read moreWe have been to High Tide several times and enjoyed it, but our last visit on 3/27/24 was kind of a let-down. The cioppino recipe has apparently been changed; this was my Dad's favorite dish and he did not care for the changes. The broth is not broth anymore; it's more like a tomato sauce. Dad says he doesn't want to go back to High Tide anymore. I wish he'd said something to me during the meal so I could've given them feedback on the spot. Unfortunately he waited til after we left to tell me he didn't like it. So disappointing - he used to really love their cioppino.
Wednesdays are 1/2 off bottled wine, so we bought a bottle. We liked the wine we chose, so much so that I looked it up to see if I could buy it at Total Wine. Delighted to say that Total Wine does sell the same wine we enjoyed at High Tide. However, I was a bit surprised to see that Total Wine sells it for $10.97/bottle, and High Tide has this wine on their menu for $45 (we paid $22.50 due to 1/2 off). I get that there's a mark-up, but wow... I feel a little bit robbed. It's a $16 bottle of wine if purchased directly from the vintner (non-member price). Maybe this is normal... I confess I haven't really paid much attention to wine pricing by the bottle in restaurants before... hardly ever order by the bottle.
This experience has not completely put me off the restaurant, and I'm sure I can get Dad to go back after a cooling off period. But we won't be ordering ciopinno again unless they change it back, and I'll certainly be thinking twice before ordering a bottle of wine there in the future. Other than the recipe change and the sticker shock after researching the wine, I still like the place.
3 stars for the food due to the ciopinno change. 3 stars for service, since I asked the waiter a question about the wine and he answered incorrectly (I asked if it was a blend and he said "no" - but it is a blend). 4 stars for atmosphere - it's a nice place to eat. 3 stars overall. We want the old...
