Done with this place. What a shame because the food is generally really good. But the service? Horrible! Even when this restaurant is not busy, Anne is running around like a chicken with its head cut off. A couple of weeks ago, I called in a order for pickup. It was a Saturday afternoon. Busy? Yes! Despite that fact, a well trained staff should be able to handle the rush. I allowed 10 minutes before leaving my home to ensure the food would be ready once I arrived. Once I arrived, the blonde girl that took my order over the phone never placed it! So I had to wait 20 minutes for my order to be ready. Clearly, I was not happy. The gal that took my order was very apologetic. Mistakes happen. I get it. But as the gal was apologizing, Anne rushed over to tell her, "It's ok. The food is being prepared now." Anne never apologized or said anything to try and make things right to me, the paying customer. To make matters worse, when the bill was rang up she did not knock off a few dollars for the screw up on their part! A recent return back to this restaurant confirmed that customer service is severely lacking as Anne was once again back to her scatter brain ways. My family had placed a fried rice order for three, with no egg. Anne repeated the order back to us, which led us to believe there would be no issue. The order came out with....... you guessed it - egg in it! We made her take back the order. 10 to 15 minutes later the correct order came out. On this particular Monday, the restaurant had not even been open an hour. So it was not busy. This place really needs to get their customer service...
Read moreNot sure if the people of Gilbert have ever had good sushi or are just limited on options but this place was absolutely terrible. I'm honestly surprised this place is rated so high. Cheap ingredients were obvious and made for a dismal sushi experience. Smoked salmon doesn't belong in sushi. At all. Ever. Do yourself a favor and skip the Philly Roll. As for sashimi you'll be greeted with warm, gelatinous salmon belly as a higher priced sashimi option. The fishy taste was overwhelming to the point of nauseating and I could barely stomach it. I've had cheaper priced sashimi that is leagues better at little mom and pop sushi spots (if you're ever in North Phoenix do yourself a favor and visit Bento Box at Norterra). The Vegas Rolls here only add to my frustration. An overpowering store-bought crab mix dominated the tempura and tiny dollop of cream cheese desperately trying to hold the fragile soft roll together. Vegas rolls by default come with eel sauce, so it was an unpleasant surprise to receive sweet chili sauce in it's place. Not sure whose culinary expertise decided to take the liberty of changing eel sauce to sriracha, but it's a poor choice and one that needs immediate rectification. Skip this place and find a different sushi spot. Your tastebuds will...
Read moreBe very diligent if you order the vegetarian/vegan teppanyaki. We told our server I was vegan and ordered the vegetarian teppanyaki. She didn't bring me the soup since it had chicken broth in it, so things started well. I had to turn down having the teppan chef toss fried rice in my mouth as it has egg. The chef cooked my tofu and veggies (less veggies than I would have liked) before the meat and put it on my plate. I had to ask for my steamed rice. Once that came, all seemed well, and I started eating. Then, out of nowhere, the chef placed a couple shrimp right on top of my vegetables before I could finish saying no. I just froze and stared at my meal that I was enjoying crushed as now I would not be able eat much of it. The chef said "ohh you are vegetarian", and I said "yes". He did not offer to do anything to fix the situation. I ended up giving the majority of my meal to my son as I could no longer eat it. I was also scared as I was told by doctors I have a high chance of having a shellfish allergy due to a serious reaction to CT dye. I was still hungry. We came here for my husband's birthday, so I tried not to make a big deal about it. However, he could tell I was upset, and it really ruined the meal for everyone. No discount for the error was on the...
